I turned this off about 20 minutes in iirc. Theres one good Krays film and its the one with the Kemp brothers from 1990.
Took me four sittings, but I did finish it. There were some good bits, but ultimately I wasn't mad keen. If there was an interesting story about the Krays, the film side-stepped it to some degree.

The best bit was Reggie as Peter O'Hanrahabrahan in a Day Today sketch. Would have benefited from more of the Day Today cast.

Adrian Dunbar's Coastal Ireland.

This sort of thing is ten a penny, and the shadow of the Stage Irishman is never far away. . . But they did find some unusual stuff and Dunbar does deliver the goods. Of course, you can't help thinking of his Line of Duty persona.

Yeah, Lockwood is not bad, the actress playing the girl is particularly good - I can see her going on to a good career. I interpreted it as an alternate-timeline kind of earth set in something close to the present but where technology has not advanced as far, probably due to the discovery of ghosts. But now you mention it, maybe it is meant to be set in an alternate 80s?
I have just finished it and thought it was really good.

This confused me a bit as the tech was very 90s and the cars used all had numberplates older than 1997 so I wasn't sure if it was set in the 90s or not.
but the PMR radios used are more modern

Transatlantic is a new series based on the novel The Flight Portfolio, based on the true story of the Emergency Rescue Committee's work in helping Jewish people and others flee the Nazis during WWII.

I haven't seen much of it yet but it looks very well done - high production values, engaging, good performances etc.
Might be worth a look if you are interested in (and can bear to watch ofc) the subject at hand. First impressions are good.

We finished Anatomy of a Scandal last night.

A British legal drama that ticks along quite nicely with an excellent cast, but then jumps the shark massively in E4 with a ridiculously implausible plot twist.

Deceit. Fictionalised account of the police attempt to get Colin Stagg convicted for the murder of Rachel Nickell. Niamh Algar is good in the central role .

Don't get half of the titles on our Netflix.

However, we're really enjoying Wednesday. Didn't expect it to be so much fun and engaging. Best dark comedy murder mystery since Only Murders in the Building...

Finished Beef. Undoubtedly the best Netflix series for ages, certainly since Squid Game. Nearly flawless, great story, brilliant writing, and superb acting by the two main leads. Highly recommended.

I feel silly for asking... but I'm subscribed to UK Netflix, signed up during lockdown. I'm probably going to another European country for a few weeks and will be taking my laptop with me. What will happen?

Will my login no longer work if I try to watch using the Wifi in France? Will I have to sign up to French Netflix? Will I still be able to watch all the shows in my UK account watch list, or will some of them not be available?

A VPN would be the the best thing to get in this instance.

Yes you can still watch but it might be different programmes.

Download stuff to laptop in advance? Might deal with any issues with slow connection too
Not sure that will work. I downloaded stuff off kiwi netflix last year that's not available in the UK and I couldn't watch it once I'd got back and taken my phone off flight mode.

It doesn't fit neatly into any genre either, it's prickly and unexpected... I have a feeling it'll get a lot of nominations. I think it was a great look at repressed anger - and how fitting into a lifestyle or the life you're given can be so soul destroying and stressful.

Nobody: Better Call Saul's Bob Odenkirk has a bash at being John Wick ably supported by Christopher Lloyd. Killed 1.5 hours
I love Odenkirk and Lloyd and was really looking forward to this. . . . but I found it just . . . ok. Better than most flims it is similar to, but probably only because of Odenkirks and Llyods performances. I was at least expecting a far more interesting story.

So yes. . it killed 1.5 hours, but that was about it.

It gets a bit stupid and arty-farty at the 3rd episode. Let me know how it goes if you get past that.

Yeah I honestly found myself losing interest a bit and kind of forgot that I was in the middle of watching it (and we cancelled our Disney + so have been trying to rinse through as much of that as possible before the renewal date so stuff on other channels/services has been on the back burner). Which is a shame, because clearly it is a big budget production.

Will give it another go though and report back.
