When people say politicians are stupid, I tend to go along with them, largely because I hate them (the case here certainly). Privately, I think I couldn't do their job, or at least I'm not remotely cut out to do their job. All that being on show, remembering stuff, keeping to a line, not going ballistic and effing and jeffing all the time. I mean, that's not admiring them, just saying there's a skill set there.
But fucking hell, Dorries, all front, a bit of ideology and a kind of self righteousness that only the truly stupid have. She's the minister you'd put in place if you truly hated the people and the industries she will be responsible for, which is exactly what has happened to the culture industry. She's that Fast Show tory MP + Competitive Dad + Alan Partridge, all rolled up into some kind of malicious imp. Certainly a sign of how the tory party has gone - 20 years ago she's have been the loon at some fringe event at the conference, now she's responsible for the BBC. And really fucking stupid.
