More police brutality than you can shake a stick at.

Well, it definitely was reported about, as it ended up on the other thread yesterday:

What do you mean 'the other thread'?

I'm posting on this one. Weirdo.

In today's ‘Are You Shitting Me?!’ news:

[Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick] also joined a denunciation of the police assault on Floyd, and the violence that followed. She echoed a statement from Martin Hewitt, chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council, Mike Cunningham, chief executive of the College of Policing, and Paul Griffiths, president of the Police Superintendents’ Association.

It says: “We stand alongside all those across the globe who are appalled and horrified by the way George Floyd lost his life. Justice and accountability should follow.”

CRESSIDA FUCKING DICK.

Charge now upgraded to second-degree murder,* with other the charged as accessories.

* On the basis that he died during an attempt to commit a felony i.e. third-degree assault.

Quelle surprise Cressida Dick speaks with a forked tongue:

Hit an old man, win a free holiday.

Can’t help but feel the police penalisation system needs some work.

The 'without pay' seemed to me to be something different. The suspension and promise of investigation was also quite quick; contrast it with the police response to attack on the Australian news crew in New York.

Just to be clear what the police officer did (assaulting a 75 year old man), intervening to stop a colleague helping, plus what the vast majority of the other officers did (either nothing or attempted to obstruct/intimidate those recording the event) was disgusting. Also I agree that the current means of investigating police wrong doing are inadequate (both in the US and the UK).

Cheers - Louis MacNeice
