Lost pubs of Streatham

I've already compiled a depressingly long list of closed pubs in Brixton, but I came across another two on Streatham High Road.

The Bedford Park was in a particularly Victorian fine building.

Anyone ever go?

Seamus from The Windmill had the Bedford Park up until late last year. Went in it a few times but it was very tired looking.

He had music upstairs but I never went up there for the music so no idea how successful it was.

Jack Stamps I used to use now and again if in Streatham as it was fairly lively and I used to get a Thai meal whilst there.

Mixed crowd but a regular crowd amongst the older generation due to cheap beer

Jack Stamps had been a pub for only about fifteen years. Prior to that it had been an Italian restaurants under a number of various guises owned by Grand Met and then by a management buy out. Friend who were brought up in Streatham in the early 80s still wax nostalgic about its previous incarnation as "Pizzaland".

Anyone remember when it was "Pastificio" some twenty years ago? God, that was a dire place to eat.

went for a pint in the bedford park a few years ago (maybe 5 or 6?). the beer was unpleasant, and the clientelle glared as you entered.

i failed to return.

Was Bedford Park the one near Streatham train station on the other side of the road?

Went there a few times in the early 90s when I lived round there. Was alright, can't remember much about it tbh.

It's the one that's sort of down from the cemetery, on the dip, a bit before Streatham bus garage

I saw Arsenal clinch the league against Man U at Jack Stamps.

Its also the only place in London I have ever been offered out for a fight without any provocation at all.
