LFT advice please

planetgeli

There's no future in England's dreaming
Because of Covid at my work, me and my gf have just done LFTs. We've done a couple in the past each, always the same negative result.

This time we both have the same result. It's a red line next to (just above actually) the C and a much darker and thicker line just below the T - in fact right at the bottom of the reader.

Badgers

Anyone with experience?

I already have a PCR booked for tomorrow. But as this isn't as classically put in the pictures, which all show two neat red lines, I'd like opinions.

TIA

At the risk of stating the obvious, is that just at the start, or after you've waited the 30 minutes? I've never tested positive on one (or at least not yet) but you have to give it time to settle down.

Or could this be a dodgy batch of test things?

After 30 mins. And yes, a dodgy batch crossed my mind.

Sometimes the paper strip moves in the cartridge. Do another test now and try to isolate before a PCR test if feasible.

As a rule the two red lines (one bold and one faint) is a positive result.

Take your time with the second test. Blow your nose first.

5 seconds each side of your tonsils

10 in your nose. Whirl it around a few times and then leave it pressed against the inside of your nostril.

Retest negative (just me, gf has gone to bed pissed off). This paper strip moving thing sounds a possibility Badgers

Though we are both really hot...and have been all day.

Doing my head in tbh. PCR at 3.30 tomorrow, ho hum...

Don't worry yourselves up about it. Just make sure you redo your tests thoroughly and see how it goes tomorrow.

PCR should be free following a 'possibly' positive LFT and hopefully that will put your minds at rest.

In the event of a true positive it's possible for the test line to be stronger/darker than the control line. Not seen it on the covid lft specifically but have seen it with other lft tests.
You've done the right thing getting the PCR tomorrow :)

Essential worker, working with vulnerable kids. So it's free for that reason anyway.
