Laurence Fox. The twat.

As I mentioned above the blackface tweet was posted as it emerged Fox had made good on his threat to sue an X-twitter user for calling him a "racist pr***"

Laurence Fox 'sues man over racist claim' as ex-actor's vile Blackface picture condemned

Laurence Fox is yet to publicly respond to a Twitter user's claim that the former actor has taken legal action against them but was widely condemned on the site earlier today, after sharing a picture of himself in what appears to be 'Blackface'

Laurence Fox is allegedly taking legal action against a social media user who called the former actor, 45, a "racist pr***" on Twitter in May, it's been revealed today.

Mukhtar Ali Yassin took to Twitter this afternoon [August 9] to tell his followers: "Hi everyone, @LozzaFox has sued me. I did not get the letter as it was sent to the wrong address. I will be defending it & @mlewislawyer has agreed to act on “no win no fee”. If I need to crowdfund for any disbursements, I’ll let you know. But it's on."

Mr Yassin's tweet comes just hours on from Fox being slammed on social media for uploading a picture of himself wearing an afro wig and seemingly sporting excessive amounts of fake tan on his face. The controversial dad-of-two claimed he was "someone who has recently racially transitioned" as he shared the image on Twitter this morning.

On May 2 this year, Mr Yassin shared two screenshots showing a Twitter interaction between Fox and another Twitter user. During the exchange, Fox shared a TikTok and wrote "Dear Black people, stop making everything about you." The Twitter user replied to the former actor: "F*-k off you Racist Pr**k."

"Remove your tweet and apologise, or get a lawyer," Fox told the Twitter user on May 1. Sharing the screenshots the next day, Mr Yassin captioned the images: "F*** off your racist pr*** @lozzafox." @lozzafox is the handle Fox uses to share posts from his verified Twitter account.

Responding to Mr Yassin's tweet on May 2, Fox wrote in a tweet: "Hey Mukhtar. You are going to need to have the below as your pinned tweet for six months. I apologise to @LozzaFox for my baseless and defamation slur. I retract my statement fully and I apologise for any hurt caused. You have until 5pm, or I would get yourself a good lawyer."

Mr Yassin didn't delete his tweet and has stood by his claims several times since his original post. Today, after revealing Fox was suing him, the Twitter user shared a picture of a piece of paper showing: "Laurence Fox (Claimant) and Mukhtar Ali Yassin (Defendant)". He captioned the image: "It's really happening."

"I said it before and I'll say it again. I will not be bullied," Mr Yassin wrote in an additional tweet after sharing that he will be using Martin Lewis (@mlewislawyer) as his defence lawyer for the case. Mr Lewis acted on behalf of Jack Monroe when the food blogger won a libel action case against Katie Hopkins in 2017.

Fox is yet to address any of Mr Yassin's tweets shared online today. This morning, the former actor was slammed by Twitter users over his response to Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan's plans to celebrate Black culture and creativity with a new event set to be held next month.

"NEW: I’m excited to introduce a brand new event, taking place in Trafalgar Square on 2 September. Black on the Square is a free celebration of Black culture and creativity. With fantastic music, spoken word, dance, art and food, you won’t want to miss it," Mr Khan tweeted as he shared the announcement.

Fox quote-tweeted Mr Khan's post to his 391,100 followers and wrote: "Can’t wait. As someone who has recently racially transitioned, I’m glad my culture is going to be celebrated! It’s been a long journey. First the hair curling, then the course of white blockers. It’s just great to finally be myself."

The 45-year-old aspiring politician attached a picture of himself wearing a wig, with his face covered in an unnatural amount of fake tan. The tweet from Fox was slammed by hundreds of Twitter users, with some accusing the controversial commentator of Blackface. Blackface refers to when someone (typically with white skin) paints their face darker to resemble a black person. It is viewed as racist and deeply offensive.

The Mirror has approached Laurence Fox for comment on this story.

So relieved to be getting out of [UK flag] for a while.

Away from the systematic racism which blights this country.

Trans racial rights are human rights.

I think this showing the number of views a post has is making things worse. This toxic shite thrives on it. It didn't used to do that did it? If he sees he got loads of views, even if a load of those will be people who think he's a vile prick, it feeds his desire for attention. I didn't look at his account to find that screenshot as someone else had posted it, but it's a bind - I mean, do you ignore stuff that's that bad?

Involving children in his racist antics? What a cunt.
This is it isn't it? He's basically forcing the children's mother to take action somehow. So selfish and gross and petty and needy.

If I was Billie, I'd never allow him access after this stunt. Once they're 16 or whatever, you can't stop them going round, but he's an incredibly bad influence.

I can't imagine upcoming family gatherings are going to be particularly pleasant, bearing in mind that the mockery of an afro wig with glasses that he's dragged his kids into wearing will quite likely also be seen by his brother-in-law (Richard Ayoade). It's not the first time he's started a fight either.
I'm surprised his sister hasn't disowned him by now, to be honest.

I thought he was banned from seeing them unsupervised! Billie's not the friendliest ex.

He was about to take them abroad on holiday according to that tweet, as he has done before. And although BP's alluded to knowing what it's like to have been in difficult relationships, she's never publicly said a word against him off. From what I've seen she's been very reasonable, considering his ongoing attempts to be as offensive as possible and involving their kids in his weird attention-seeking games.

I posted the screenshot/link to the one of him in blackface. I chose not to do so for the one with the children. People will obviously make their own decisions about this kind of thing.

Personally I think "ignore him and he'll go away" "don't give him publicity" arguments are utterly crazy.

Yes he's a fucking joke - although as this last couple of days have reinforced not a funny one. But he is already out there as one of the 'vanilla' 'alt-lite' faces of a very diverse, very active and growing right wing/populist/conspiraloon counterculture. (More accurately a large collection of countercultures, some very hostile to one another, but overall having a multiplier effect on one another).

I recently turned 70 and the only time I recall seeing anything even vaguely comparable was in the late sixties and early seventies. Today I don't see anything remotely similar on 'our' side. (If it's possible to even speak of an 'us' or an 'ours').

Yes they are a minority. So were the counterculture(s) in the late sixties/early seventies. But, both then and now, very loud minorities able to punch well above their weight. In complete contrast to 'us' today.

But then some of you should know this already. Sections of Gen-X seem to have spent their entire fucking lives whining about the consequences of their parents generation.

Fox isn't 'like' Milo Yiannopoulos but he is playing a not dissimilar role in this country. So if people want to denounce him, mock him, get angry with him or even 'get even' with him then go for it I say.

And if people have better things to do and don't want to hear about him here's a 'modest proposal': don't click on a thread about him.

All good points Lurdan. Yeah, this shit is v. concerning.

She's never been public about it, but the custody battle was very nasty and mainly hinged on his cocaine habit at the time and how he couldn't be trusted around minors. But I suppose if he's successfully peed in a cup enough times since then he'll have access.

To be fair though, I think you do have to do extremely bad things to lose legal rights of access to your children in this country (as in, a judge rules you can't see them, not just your ex not wanting you to). Fox is clever enough not to qui-i-ite cross that line.

Ignoring bullies never works. They will just keep escalating their behaviour. I'm still angry at the fucking clueless adults who gave me that dogshit "advice" when I was at school.
Unfortunately, giving them attention actually earns them money now, and encourages more provocative bellendery. No, I don’t know how we fix it either, although it probably involves fists somewhere.
