Keepingthefaith.org.uk - Quick! While you can!

From the front page just now:

(We have been repeatedly attacked by spammers and worse but we are back to the automatic system. But we still have a huge number of emails to sort through from yesterday (7 September). If your name doesn't appear, please add it again. Thanks.)
Ok, own up, who's been eating the page owner's babies this time?

Buggery, he's pinched my Hugh Jass :(

Right, I'm not gonna mention any more here now, just in case like.

like I said keep them subtle. these bastards are probably going to issue this petition as a press statement <if we don't force 'em to give up>, imagine the damage we could inflict on that little spinny wheeze if those who end up on the final petition come out of the woodwork and expose it for the sham it is. The press would love it <they do already, but this would be much worse :D >

it's not sending me any emails now though, even though I'm using different email addresses.... oh well, maybe it recognises my IP.

glad I've got onethough... :)

Yeah, the way forward is hush hush about the names here and they should be subtle enough to require a second look!

some of those are great! weird thing is, i reckon the 'david hartley' on there is a guy i went to school with, now new labour activist!

I considered using a number of names that appeared on the Chartist petition like "Victoria Rex" and "Mr Pugnose". :D

thanks for the hint, lets see if you can find mine

hey! its not come up

do they send an email to the adress you put on there to confirm?

Also worth noting that the apology on their front page, about the 4,000+ names they already have and are busy with doing the data entry for, has disappeared!

Could it be - god forbid - that they were fibbing all along?

Surely not!

They ask you to submit an email address but I goofed and sent a fake one. Does this mean I have to set up another fake email account?

haha - its such a shit list of names too, no location or anything.

i.e. absolutely entirely useless.

mine's still there :D

There's quite a write up on this escapade at Britain's favourite reality-based news site, the Register, right here ...

... keepingthefaith.org.uk is registered to one David Taylor. Almost incredibly, not only had he left his site open to flagrant democratic expression but he had published in the HTML code the underlying hosting address: http://backdoor.taylord.fastmail.co.uk/faith/ - and had exposed his other projects. Thanks to Bloggerheads for capturing these before that door was shut and Mr Taylor removed the MP3 file of "Things can only get better" - as far as we know this kind of stuff, used in the treatment of reforming Blairites, is now only available on prescription.

Revealed highlights of Taylor's glittering (surely "guttering?" - Ed) Web design career include a site entitled gordonbrown.org - packed with news and amazon.com book plugs relating to the Chancellor of the Exchequer - and offering the domain name for sale. And digging around led to shutthebackdoor.co.uk - which says it's a "a non-party political group campaigning to put a stop to" certain electoral rules of the Welsh Assembly. Which, as Bloggerheads kindly points out, we touched on here.

Do we smell astroturfing - the weaving of fake grass roots? We think we do.

And he'd have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for you meddling kids :D

no they are spying <and taking off the most obvious or odd sounding names> post less obvious ones and don't mention 'em here......
But there's a good half dozen ( at least) who are dubious up there still.

ho ho :)

Does anyone feel like having a go at their new addname.pl? All you'd need is a bit of PERL knowhow...

You have to open a confirmation email to click the link and activate.

Looks like they saw through Dave Spart...
