Kamala Harris' time is up

Is this song actually real? I've heard lots of talk about it but never heard the song.

Think there's more chat on the YCL thread.

(IIRC the lyrics are so bad, the song has to exist.)

Yep.

Another habit him and his fellow far right goons have, is emphasis on certain names like "Barack HUSSEIN Obama".

I can't help but imagine the people saying that breaking down screaming while spasming over the mere notion of a US President having an Arabic-sounding name. Getting so worked up because he didn't have a typical dull white boy name, it's always been so fucking pathetic.

That post says

"*possibly this is an urban myth. If anyone can locate an mp3, I’d be grateful."

I presume it doesnt exist.

Back in London, around 2008, recall some woman repeatedly calling him Osama. It was a night out in Acton, or somewhere close and it was mostly good natured banter but she was adamant that he was called Osama. Despite my gentle correction.

Absolutely convinced about his name.

Lil Wayne probably - a rapper from New Orleans. Lil Jon is from Atlanta - he's an MC, producer and DJ who was a leading light of the 'crunk' scene - a subgenre of hip hop that involves agressive yelling over electronic dance beats.
That's the one. I knew it was Lil someone :) . My knowledge of the rap scene and its offshoots is very limited.

And this is how a real country here in the real world does democratic due process is it?

Might as well settle the whole thing by having Gordon the fucking Gopher pull a name out of a hat.

The formal roll call vote to nominate Harris was weeks ago, this was a "celebratory" one

The party had long contemplated the early virtual roll call to ensure Biden would appear on the ballot in every state. It said it would next formally certify the vote before holding a celebratory roll call at the party’s convention later this month in Chicago.

The reality of American politics gets closer to its portrayal in that film Idiocracy every 4 years

CHICAGO − Chicago Police and the FBI are investigating if saboteurs placed bugs in a breakfast buffet prepared for delegates at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday.

"Multiple unknown female offenders are alleged to have entered a building...and began placing unknown objects onto tables containing food," the convention's information center said in a statement. "The offenders are believed to have then left the area. One victim was treated and released on-scene. Along with CPD, FBI-Chicago is assisting in the investigation."

One witness told USA TODAY the creatures appeared to be crickets while other reports suggested maggots.
and
Last month, maggots and other insects were reportedly released at the Watergate Hotel in Washington, DC, during a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Chicago has seen nightly protests during the convention by organizations seeking an end to the Gaza war and an end to U.S. military support for Israel.

You know what? Anybody interested in this thread should just go watch it if they haven't seen it. And watch it again if not seen it recently.

Walz looks a very wise choice for running mate based on his performance last night. Interested to see the polls next week. I suspect Trump might be bricking it.

I'm not sleeping very well at the moment so have been watching quite a lot of it. It's fucking bonkers. Imagine if one of our parties tried something as bombastic as this :D I thought Trump's one was OTT but this is kicking its ass. Rumours of both Beyonce and Taylor Swift for tonight. Oh and Kamala.

Asked to respond to Walz's remarks in an interview Thursday morning, Trump called him a "lightweight" and then rambled about unrelated topics for more than five minutes

"Well, first of all, he’s a total lightweight. And he shouldn’t be even having any access to possibly being president. The guy he’s been a terrible governor. They’ve had nothing but problems in their state. He has no capability. They call him coach. He’s a semi coach. You coach some football for a little while. This guy is a lightweight and he shouldn’t have access. And for him to say about project 25 is disgraceful. They know I have nothing to do with it. I had no idea what it was. A group of people got together. They drew up some conservative values, very conservative values, and in some case, perhaps they went over the line. Perhaps they didn’t. I have no idea what project 25 is, but they use it and they know it. Just like Charlottesville, totally discredited. They use Charlottesville. You know, Biden gets up all the time, says Charlottesville. He ran because of Charlottesville. We got he got run out of office by the Democrats. They did a coup on him. And he’s sitting someplace in California on a beach because he’s in California, crime ridden, crime ridden place. It’s not the same place. More people leaving than coming. And all of the things that these people have done. Kamala has been the worst. Everything she touched turned bad. California turned bad. San Francisco. You can’t walk into San Francisco. You barely can go into California anymore, people. It’s a state that’s in terrible, terrible crime...."

He's absolutely insane isn't he? The scariest part is that about half of the American electorate seem to think that's a normal way to communicate and even admire him for it. He's nuts.

I do worry the Dems may have gone a bit toooo OTT with all their celebrities and stuff making the 'working Joe' feel a bit intimidated by all the cool kids strutting their stuff.

Likewise, I have watched more of this years convention that one all the previous ones out together.

This one does seem a bit unusual, in that there is overwhelmingly unity and a rally for Harris/Walz. Previous conversations (not just '68) have been far more...interesting.

What strikes me as really weird, is the extent to which unions (not just union leaders, tho there have been a lot of them) have been to the fore. Every day there is someone (usually several people) extolling the virtues and the victories of the union movenment. How Joe Biden was the first sitting President ever to stand on a picket line. And they dont just talk, they shout about the 'working class'. The comparison with a Labour conference (even under Corbyn) is astounding.

Of course, it is still highly hypocritical. Bernie Sanders spoke last night, and was great, but was then immediately followed by a guy who proudly proclaimed 'as an actual billionaire...'
