"just accept that you are poorer"

savoloysam

Pigman's pigman's ha ha charade you are..

I can't believe given the increase in homelessness and food banks that yet another out of touch expert, who no doubt, is not suffering at all could say something so insensitive. It's almost like he's trolling the poor

Bring on the next election and I will vote labour. I detest them but if it helps get the Tories out I'm going to vote for the first time in my life and help get them out.

Whatever next?

Do you think Huw Pill is going to be gutted if the British public returns a Labour government?

The Bank of England. They want CBDCs and for CBDCs to be effective, they'll be wanting everyone to carry a mandatory digital ID.

Starmer wants digital IDs.

I'm not saying vote Tory, I certainly won't be.

There might be a collective groan from many around here, but I have to say it.

The only way to beat the bastards is to decentralise and build an economy they can't control.

I don't believe there is any political party out there with the answers. I wouldn't vote for any of them.

Of the quotes provided in the linked piece, this appears to be the most egregious:

“And what we’re facing now is that reluctance to accept that, yes, we’re all worse off, and we all have to take our share.”
Of course, the point of neoliberalism is to enrich the already wealthy by further immiserating the poor.

Inflation due to higher fuel prices, the war in Ukraine and Covid19 nothing to do with it?

With high state intervention:

A) Government would have to right decisions in the first place.
B) Have the support of the state, the civil service.

The problem with the system right now isn't that it's neoliberal, it's centralised power acting in the interests of centralised power that's the problem.

It's obviously a bit Antoinette to say from that rarified air, and urging households to accept price gouging/wage attacks is particularly stupid.

The idea that Britain as a whole has less economic heft and therefore collectively can't outbid other nations for resources as easily as it used to isn't wrong though. It's a less economically powerful nation than it used to be and the pound simply pays for less stuff.

I was more interested seeing him edge into mentioning company greed as a contributing factor tbh, relatively rare from his sector. I do wonder how the process of reconciling their old economic dogmas with the new reality is going atm. Obviously lots of denial in the usual circles, but some of the sharper heads are seeing more clearly, impossible to say what the balance is from the outside.

Theres accepting you are poorer. e.g. I won't be buying as many yachts this year.

Then there is being pushed into poverty.
Nobody working 1-2 jobs should still not have enough money to eat, feed their kids, afford a roof over their heads and heat said accommodation. Like fuck should anyone accept that.

So I think he should have clarified rich people should accept that they are poorer. But that wasn't what he meant at all now was it.
He'd no doubt claim that the rich need to incentives to generate more wealth.

As well as being ill-informed, half-baked, economically illiterate internet "wisdom", some of this guff sounds just like the sort of 'explanations' offered by the Tory government for our continuing immiseration.

Out of interest, when you acted as a teller at a polling station, which party were you representing?

I said already that I wouldn't vote tory or any other party. Why would I tell you which party I represented, only for you to mischaracterise me endlessly?

Your mask is slipping. Bigots love to skip over the character of someone and judge them by the pigeonhole that they stuffed them into.

And as for guff, Keir Starmer wants digital IDs. That is a matter of public record.

Its all about you again. Please don't do this to another thread. Please.

Don't take this as support for any of your other opinions...

... but you are right about this site insomuch as once certain people here have catagorised you in their minds that's it's. Anything you say will be filtered through the prejudice of their assumptions of you forever and ever. They won't ever read your post correctly assuming you said all black cats are evil because they had you down as a black cat hater. But we were talking about salads. I never even mentioned cats. Because you hate cats.

I never mentioned black cats.

Why did you?

It's tone deaf but also "saying the quiet part loud".
i can only imagine this is no mistake - a clear intervention - this is someone who has significant influence over the future direction of this country. presumably he has said this because this is now the official technocrat plan for the future and the psychological process of getting the public to keep calm, eat shit and die is kicking in.

So a right wing conspiricy theory becomes reality when one of the arbiters of the truth, a left winger, says it's the truth?

I see that you don't want to disclose you previous party political membership and activism. That's fair enough, though to cast the question as some form of pigeon-holing bigotry seems a little overly-defensive. Many on here have talked about previous political affiliations and I've often talked about my own past experiences with the LP. I don't think that has led others to skip over the content of my posting or "character" as you choose to call it.

Anyway...back OT, why do you spout tory lines about excusing neoliberal immiserisation on the war in Ukraine and Covid?

I'm right wing in the economic sense.

There is nothing that comes close to capitalism when it comes to advancing our standard of living, including the working classes.

The middle classes have taken a left turn, because they know the way to keep the status-quo is to have a good old fashioned bit of centralised authoritarianism to keep the workers in their place.

It's centralised power that is the problem here. Not capitalism.

If you're wondering why the regulators aren't stepping in, it's because even if someone got in with a mind to breaking up those monopolies, all that would happen, is that corrupt elements of the state would fight back.

What happened to Dominc Raab would only happen to socialist minister if they got into power.

Anyway...back OT, why do you spout tory lines about excusing neoliberal immiserisation on the war in Ukraine and Covid?

Please give one or two examples. Thanks.
