Wow you've all gone off on a tangent about your experience with people talking in foreign accents.
JB was clearly taking the piss/ paying homage to MacClaren, end of!
Joseph Barton @Joey7Barton
In my defence, it is very difficult to do a press conference in Scouse for a room full of French journalists. The alternative is to speak like a 'Allo Allo!' character which is choose. Its simply a case of you had to be there.
dietmar hamann's accent makes me smile - sort of euro-scouse
And a Professorship in Linguistics - Chomsky's shitting himself.I think Joseph Barton is a complex and oft misunderstood young man. I also think he will turn into a good and wise man once he has worked through his 'issues'.
.
Don't know about that but I know entertainment when I see it. In that he excels...a sad commentary on, well, me.I think Joseph Barton is a complex and oft misunderstood young man. I also think he will turn into a good and wise man once he has worked through his 'issues'...
If he worked on a building site and you lived next door to him I bet that like the rest of us you would just think he was a horrible bastard.I think Joseph Barton is a complex and oft misunderstood young man. I will enjoy saying 'I told you so' in years to come when young Joseph is renowned for his philanthropic works.

Au contraire mon ami. Like yourself, I have encountered many, many workmates just like Monsieur Barton (most of whose capacity for violence - especially of a Friday night - would leave Joseph looking like a social worker). Their inability to control their temper (in fairness, mostly when provoked) and propensity for casual, but brutal violence did not stop them being sound lads... nor preclude them making fine men once they had matured a bit.
You know fuckin loads of them too... we also know quite a few who did not make it... through drink, drugs or indeed vilence... and a couple who have transitioned... but only from angry young men to bitter old bastards
Christ, man, lighten up.I wasn't aware young Joseph had any pretensions to be a budding Chomsky.
Both J Barton Esquire and other posters have provided perfectly logical and reasonable explanations for his foray into 'allo 'allo territory.
That you deliberate choose to dismiss them speaks volumes about you, rather than JB.
Jan Molby developed a rather fine Scandie-Scouse accentdietmar hamann's accent makes me smile - sort of euro-scouse
I'd be more impressed if could speak French with a scouse accent.
I think that he is a spoiled bastard with a bit of a nasty streak, I also think that he is a bully and a shithouse who if not blessed with a talent would be a fucking nightmare to live beside.
don't give a shit about anyone's experience. this thread is about barton. it's cringing video.
Anyone who makes the grade as a professional athlete of just about any sport is blessed with a talent otherwise millions more of us would be getting paid to be athletes, particularly footballers, without that natural talent he would not be living the lifestyle that he is or playing at the level that he is, but it still requires hard work and dedication to get there, even more so to reach the level Barton has reached, many waste that talent, I know of a few myself who should have played football at a pro level but did not have the right mental attitude/strength.I'll get back to you on the rest of your post but for now... here is the bad news... Joseph Barton was/is not 'blessed with a talent'.
Like all professional athletes, he got where he is by purposeful practice, hard work and extreme dedication. Now I understand why some people 'hate' him and I fully realise it rubs people up the wrong way when people we don't like are successful beyond our sporting dreams. But that does not alter the fact that getting to where Barton is takes a massive amount of guts and psychological resilience.
Yes it would have been better for him had his youth coaches had a bit more cop on and not indulged all that 'If you take the aggression out of his game he won't be the same player' bolloxology - but they clearly did not. Joe Barton has succeeded despite his behaviour and attitude, rather than because of it... and I sincerely believe he will have much to offer young people in the future... just like another much-maligned fella, Craig Bellamy.
I know of a few myself who should have played football at a pro level but did not have the right mental attitude/strength.

So....your opinion on Barton is backed up by books...and science?and that's the key. It's in the mind not in the 'natural talent'.
The science disagrees with you on 'natural talent' - it is mostly a myth invented by those of us who can't be arsed putting in the hours to become 'experts'.
See; Malcolm Gladwell - Outliers; Dan Coyle - The Talent Code (also http://thetalentcode.com/) ; Carole Dweck - Mindset; Mathew Syed - Bounce; Dr John Ratey - Spark; etc etc etc

Hard work'll get you far, hard work and talent will get you further.

You remember the squealing of a rewinding tape cassette? That's it.
He certainly likes to quote philosophers and make sure he has interviews in art galleries.
One might almost think he's trying to make a point or create an impression.
