Is Elon Musk the greatest visionary or the greatest snake oil salesman of our age?

It appears there may be problems with some tesla batteries

Something interesting has been going on with Tesla Cybertrucks. Tesla has been quietly replacing their battery packs, seemingly a lot of them.

At least since September, Tesla has been swapping out Cybertruck battery packs for new ones when they are brought in for other maintenance issues.

The first report we’re aware of is from September 24. Tesla Cybertruck owner Matt Albers wrote:

“Anybody know what this means? I brought the CT in for the first time since delivery in February (VIN sub 2000) for the standard recalls and a few minor issues and they’ve added this to the list.

“They’ve had the truck for more than 2 weeks
😱
and I thought it might only be a day! What does this even mean?”

First thought was "ah that's partially good because drivers will be getting a free replacement" when of course (as pointed out later in the article) it means drivers are having to pay unnecessarily for a new battery instead of when there's a general safety recall.

The Cybertruck explosion is being investigated as a possible terrorist act - Musk is boasting about how well the Cybertruck stood up to the blast so if the kamikaze driver's goal was to give the vehicle some free publicity, mission accomplished

Authorities believe fireworks, gas tanks and camping fuel were connected to a detonation system controlled by the driver in the Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside a Trump Hotel in Las Vegas Wednesday morning, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation.

The FBI is working to determine whether the incident was a terrorist act

They just catch fire, they don’t blow up!

By the way, why is it called a cyber truck? It does not seem to have anything cybernetic about it.
Same reason it's called "X". Musk thinks these things are cool...

If only there were some way we could harness the cringe produced by Elon Musk as an energy source ...

"known for his quirky and outside-the-box antics" - none of the words most of us would use...

someone has alreayd posted this but worth it again. you could write so much about this. the fact that he has become inseperable from it. is it musk using twitter, or twitter using musk - are we deciding the narrative, or the dopamine slot machines of these platforms deciding the narratives?:

He's trying to get his money's worth.
If we call it a dollar a tweet, he'll break even in ~1.777993 Million years

How did apartheid Clyde's product launch affect Tesla's share price, I hear you all ask.

You'd have nearly doubled your money if you piled in on that drop. I did see that Tesla had their first ever YoY sales drop in 2024 but they are sitting on $33bn in cash so the balance sheet is robustly healthy.

Still trading at 100x P/E but they look increasing like just another legacy manufacturer who are going to have to retreat behind tariff walls pursued by BYD, etc. It's hard to see where the growth comes from now unless this AI taxi bollocks suddenly works brilliantly.

Sorry to be a moaner, BigMoaner - but maybe you could pause before you hit post reply and think of whether you might want to add something else, rather than post three short posts one after the other? And why is the video interesting, for those of us who really can't be arsed watching videos?
