Do you specifically mean with regard Sex work?

If not, take your pick...

Will peruse thank you .. but ye I did mean specifically with regard to sex work, esp in view of Corbyn's recent statement that he personally supports it being decriminalised, and the reaction to that ..
Jeremy Corbyn: 'I favour decriminalising the sex industry'
Labour backbenchers to confront Corbyn over sex industry stance

There are plenty of sensible arguments to legalise/regulate sex work that wouldn't be considered traditional feminist arguments - yes, there is the right to do what you want with your own body, but also harm reduction/general libertarian arguments. Also consider that many people who would legalise sex work might also want more support for those involved in sex work and a bigger safety net so there's less chance of people (female, male, transgender) really being forced into it.

what sex work have you done?? you must have done some to have such an enlightening view

you're basically saying that women need help from men ie: pimps and brothel owners to protect them and you honestly believe every man running an establishment will treat people fairly etc lol

it ALREADY IS legal.

what is illegal is running a brothel or being a pimp, I really don't know how you all think girls need this help rather than working independently

god I cant do this any more lol

None whatsoever, but I don't see what that has to do with anything... Depending on what you read, many sex workers/sex worker support groups want sex work to be legalised. Anyway, this is probably a bit off topic for this thread. Pretty sure there are other threads on here about sex work if that's what interests you.

ok then. :) lol

I suppose it's really easy to talk about how easy it all is when you have no real direct experience

because men have everything, why are they trying to claim feminism? this is a problem, it's not theirs, they should support but not claim. ******IMO*****

ALSO: why do they have to be so vocal about the whole thing? why now?? why campaign to legalise sex work?

it smacks of ulterior motives.

Out of interest how would you describe a male who believes in feminist ideals? Forgetting the whole sex worker thing for a moment just a general question.

Celebrate, dear women

not sure why. My brain makes connections I can't explain

Anyway, one love to female cmrds today.

Why is my support meaningless and how is it liberal?

This is utterly empty gesture guff:
krtek a houby said:
I am a feminist & I chose to identify with women more than men. Today, especially.

krtek a houby said:
We're all women today.

What does it actually mean and what does it actually achieve towards the smashing of women's oppression under patriarchy?

I am, and have been pretty active in actions/groups over the years.

Well, I don't know you, so how about saying something more meaningful than the stuff you came out with instead?

Whatever I say on any forum will be taken as incorrect and/or meaningless by someone. What do you want me to say?

So; to be a feminist you have to be an activist? That's the criteria?

You don't have to be an activist. You asked whether I was a feminist and so I responded.

But when I see a man come out with the sort of meaningless tripe you said earlier, I just want to know what your feminism actually means?

I believe in equality, respect and the right for women to be treated properly. Not to be treated as property, second class citizens, objects, possessions and all the other horrible stuff that happens every single day. I want women to take home the same wages as men. I want an end to sexual/physical/mental abuse of women. I want women not to be laughed at for having ambitions. I want the trolling and threats on Twitter and other social media clamped down on and the perps named, shamed & jailed if need be. I want to see an end to prejudice as is propagated by the red tops. I want to see a complete reset of the society we find ourselves in.

As for identifying with women; it's a personal thing. I don't care for macho behaviour in men, I don't do any of the blokey things like cars or football etc. I'm bisexual and have encountered prejudices; I just tend to have more female friends. Now, perhaps some or most of these things aren't good reason for proclaiming my feminism; in which case I apologise.

Which actually means stuff, as opposed to your original posts.

Not caring for 'macho behaviour in men', or 'do any of the blokey things like cars or football' doesn't equal 'identifying with women' btw.

(Neither are cars or football 'blokey things' - that's built on a sexist view)

I know football and cars are not the exclusive domain of men. One of my female mates used to write for a footie fanzine and one of my bosses was a bit of a mechanic.

That's not what you said though. So, your identifying with women - what does that mean then? It's possible to find macho behaviour abhorrent, or not like football and cars and still be a man and/or identify as one?
