You add it once it's separated from the buttermilk, while you're pressing it.

You cheated!! We did it 'properly' at school years ago with a churn and paddle! Took ages
I've got old wooden butter pats and butter moulds

Butter is bloody expensive these days. How much is double cream?!
the other thing is, it's fun to add things like fresh herbs & garlic, or honey & walnuts, etc. to make different types of butter spreads.
Ity fuckin is, my mate - Well over a pound a block in fuckin lidl. If these austerity meausures mean I have to start using margerine then you will see marches on downing street. Except I'll be too crippled by osteomalacia to get there.
Shouldn't you be writing up?Inspired by this thread, I churned up 2 pints of cream this morning.
And am just about to pull a sourdough loaf out of the oven, made with the buttercream
Gotta say, I wasn't expecting *that much* cream to end up on the walls

'Lying in bed on a summer morning, with the window open, listening to the church bells, eating buttered toast with cunty fingers.'
I've just made some duck butter
I secretly wish I had a mixer
that's what I did!Iv
I've made butter by just putting the cream in a jar, covering it and shaking it for about 8 minutes. Works perfectly.

Yeah, double cream.
I sometimes buy a pot and only use a tiny bit.
This is good to know
Oh god me too...Much to the disgust of those around me. Another real treat I "invented" fairly recently....muesli and "leftover" sour cream.Never waste double cream - I always drink whatever is left.

I don't know either but drinking double cream out of the pot has been deemed universally disgusting by anyone who's seen me do it. Weirdos.I don't see why anyone would get freaked out by it - it's no different to drinking milk really. I just spoon it out of the tub until it's all gone.
