How many frocks have you got?

Interesting people think dresses are easier. A dress needs shaved legs, and tights, and usually heels to help your legs out a bit, and not to sit like a builder. Whereas well tailored black or navy trousers go with whichever top is nearest to hand in the wardrobe and flat comfy shoes you can wear to commute in as well as in the office- no need for that canvas bag with heels in it.

Obv I work somewhere quite smart, in London and am a size you can get decent trousers in (14-16) so the above may not apply to others, but I really find dresses take more thought.

and then there's people who once their legs get older and their veins start showing... :(

Nah. Depends on your shape. I am of a shape that doesn't suit trousers at all. In fact I bought a pair of jeans last week for the 1st time in about 5 years. It also depends on your profession. I work at home mostly these days but before I worked in a job where dresses and leggings were entirely acceptable. And I almost never wear heels unless I'm off to a wedding or posh party.

Anyway, my wardrobe is pretty small and I reckon 20+ dresses. 15 of those will be regularly worn and 5 for best  I will count when I get home.

I think I have 6 or 7, and I only wear them in the summer. I do like the idea of only wearing dresses though, it's just that I'm too lazy.

I love dresses, I always feel better in a nice bright summer frock, in fact I think I really should live somewhere where I could wear dresses all year round.

Can't stand wearing tights though, so it's mostly trousers in the winter.

Now I have developed psoriasis on my legs, its maxi dresses only and I worry about looking like an old hippy.

(I probably am an old hippy)

See my last paragraph ;)

I only really got into wearing dresses in the last year but I do find them very easy. I'm wearing them bare legged but with fake tan most days now. If it's really dull or wet I wear them with 3/4 black or coloured leggings.

I do enough wearing of jeans taking the dogs out and black trousers remind me of plain clothed policemen trying not to look like policemen :D

but how many? and how many would be enough? :)

I've probably got about ten at the moment, four or five that I wear lots for work (much easier than separates for someone my shape and height, also much comfier which tbh is a major consideration for me). How many would be enough? Going by the number of beautiful dresses I've seen while online window shopping, maybe a thousand?

Just home now and counted. I have 37

Of those 25 would be daily wear. Next 10 are performing on stage/evening out wear. The other couple are weddings/black tie events (lol) only.

ETA - I would add that I have only 1 pair of trousers I wear (which I bought a fortnight ago), and I only own 1 skirt and about 3 vest tops for daily wear.

I reckon I have about 20 dresses. I have 3 that are way too small but are being saved for my daughter for when she wants to dress up. 2 that need adjustment but am waiting til I have entirely given up breastfeeding and most of the others get worn. Am aiming not to buy clothes this year and wear what I have - so far I have purchased a dress - because it was nice, an M & S top for a £1, some Birkenstocks for a £5 because one pair of sandals wore out and the other was covered in mildew and a second hand jacket because my other one has worn out.

I can't be arsed to count but I think more than 50.

What is ridiculous is there are 3 or 4 on rotation at the moment because they're cool. There are another 3 or 4 that are my usual going out dresses.

I have shit legs and psoriasis so it's tights and boots/brogues in the winter, leggings and flip flops in the summer.

I'm off sick at the moment but I can pretty much wear what I want at work as long as I'm not seeing a customer.

I have a few smarter frocks for that.

I have very few tops, maybe a handful, two pairs of trousers and 3 pairs of jeans that I wear occasionally.

I don't actually know if frocks suit me, I don't think anything really does at the moment but I've kind of stopped caring so much.

I spent my late teens/twenties in black trousers and tops for work then pretty much the same for casual too.

That makes me really sad because I was big but not huge then but didn't have the confidence to wear anything else.

I don't ever want to wear another pair of black trousers.

I am wearing one of my two frocks today, as it is going to be scorchio and we are going out for the day. The trouble is that it has a very low neck, and it is too hot to wear a camisole underneath, so my bra is showing. I hate that.

God, the years I spent wearing black trousers and a 'nice top' make me feel angry. :D

I was a size 18/20 when I went to uni. Overweight yes but at 5'9 I wasn't obese. My legs were alright, my tits were good.

What a dick. ;)

**sorry meant to quote colacubes

Probably about 50. I love dresses but I don't wear them that much as I feel too 'dressed up' IYSWIM.

Dresses are easier at this time of year when you don't have to worry about tights or shoes

Ahh, now... Summer shoes that work with dresses and can be worn for lots of walking... It's a quandary I've yet to fully solve.

image.jpg I wear these for work, summer with bare legs (bruises and veins covered with a smear of foundation) and opaque tights in winter. image.jpg

I've just counted my 50 dresses, amazing, I never knew I had that many. I wear them nearly every day for work and layer them up in winter with a thermal layer as has already been mentioned. I'm a standard size 12 but an upside down triangle with not much waist and I love the way that dresses free me of waistbands.

I've worn an extravagant assortment of frocks all weekend, it's been great. Think I will astound my colleagues with a frock a day.

A lot. Like more than a hundred, probably. Dresses mostly fit my hourglass shape a lot better than trousers and they are definitely my favourite thing to wear.
