Helicopter crashes into glasgow pub

Didn't see it, but 1st thought is whether they actually knew why the cameras were there, what was going on?

Can't see how they wouldn't know what was going on, but then as I couldn't see exactly where the reporter was, also not sure if what I saw was a repeat of interview or live, and therefore maybe they were unaware of incident, but I very much doubt it

When I read about the band still playing and joking about bringing the roof down, then the room just filling with dust, it made it sound like it perhaps wasn't as bad as feared.

Looking at the news this morning it seems pretty bad :(

As he left the Accident and Emergency Department of Glasgow Royal Infirmary, a member of staff who did not want to be interviewed was asked how serious the injuries were. He replied: "Very".

Horrible news this, hope the lack of any official confirmation of fatalities is a good sign.

The guardian are saying 'at least three people feared dead'

Possibly talking about the crew of the helicopter, which had two police officers and a civilian in it

125 firefighters on scene at one point, possibly still people trapped inside now. Horrific :(

If you in an aircraft thats wing move faster than its fusealage its a helicopter and inherantly unsafe.
Poor sods for all concerned chopper ran out of air and ideas and the people in the pub were just really unlucky sounds like it crashed on the roof and the roof held for a bit and then collapsed.

God what a horribly random thing to happen a helicopter crashing on you in a pub:(
At A guess thats the crew plus some others, pilots try when the shit hits the fan to avoid killing anyone on the ground.

Apparently still people trapped inside.

They just had the dad of one of them on the news. Saying he knew his son was inside, know he is still in there, but has no idea what condition he is in. Horrific :(

6 dead according to Sky. No hope of anyone else coming out of the building alive :(
the FBU Scotland twitter account says firefighters are still working to 'rescue' people inside which suggests they haven't given up

That's happening all over the place. Fucking irresponsible shit, decided by people who can afford to go to their nice private hospitals in times of need.
The irony is if they go to their private hospital to get patched up and it's a major problem they'll be shipped off to a NHS hospital as the private ones don't have the equipment to deal with a major trauma.(or the staff for that matter)

Somebody on another board was saying the helicopter wasnt even autorotatimg which is helicopter speak for emergancy glider so might have been a main drive failure in which case you turn into a stone and you go straight down with nothing you can do:eek:

The free market will ensure that major trauma victims have an open choice of which hospital to be taken to, all of whom will be providing treatment far more cost-effectively due to the magic pixie-dust of competition. Via an iPhone app (not available on Android) patients that have had a helicopter land on them will be able to quickly and easily access realtime information on A&E waiting times, mortality rates, and (due to a partnership with TomTom) the probable journey time in the ambulance and their chances of surviving it. Should the likelihood of survival be less than 50% they'll be presented with a link to "lastwords.com" so they can upload a final video for friends and family, which will be paid for by embedded adverts for undertakers and funeral directors.

This isn't the time and place but I thought I'd just flag this post as a grossly crass attempt to manufacture political capital from a genuine emergency. Really poor form and for all those who supported it, seriously this is your response?

Horrible situation, condolences and best wishes for a quick/good recovery to all concerned as appropriate. Perhaps the only good point is that there was no fire.

Saw the muppets behind Jim M on BBC just now, I hope they are ashamed of their behaviour in the cold light of day.
However, good efforts from the bystanders who got into action before the fire brigade etc got into their stride.
Most emergency plans now assume that at least some bystanders will help - this is based on the actions of members of the public after the Kegworth crash.

Pompous bollocks. It's nothing of the sort but a comment about stuff. 'Grossly crass attempt to manufacture political capital blah blah'. Seriously, is that your response to that response?
