- I'm going to eat a Greek omelette
_ What's that?
_ The same as a Spanish one but made with rotten eggs

Not quite right.

Nurse, my sides

Maybe you will understand/like this corrected version better? :D

Today I'm going to eat a Greek omlette.
Oh, what's that?
It's like a Spanish one but with more bollocks (huevos = eggs and is slang for balls/bollocks)

eggs = huevos = bollocks/balls. That's the joke.

I missed that. Thought it referred to what the Spanish rulers were doing.

ETA: as in "we're carrying on eat the rottenness our leaders are foisting on us".
Curiously, the Portuguese for bollocks is "tomatoes". LOL

2nd edit: I did also mistake "mas" for "maus" (Portuguese for "bad"). Never had the head for Spanish. Could never deal with the false friends. :D

All I've heard on the radio today is those from across Europe, who lost their argument with the Greek people, now saying it doesn't matter, because the Greeks are still wrong and still need to suffer. I really hope that when given the opportunity, voters will be able to call them on their lies and claptrap. That perhaps will be part of making something better.

Cheers - Louis MacNeice

Significant development of joint statement of support for Tsipras in negotiations from 5 parties (not GD or KKE). This does appear to remove any notion of EU manufactured 'regime change'.

Makes things simpler.

I understand - until I saw your post I'd assumed that the joke was some kind of wry and/or ironic and/or blackly humourous observation based on the number of eggs available. I like the original joke a lot better, but I guess it demonstrates that if you're told something is 'a joke' you'll look for a point to it, and that what you find reflects what you bring to it.

A random train of thought then brought to mind one of my favourite Gilray cartoons, where my enjoyment is based on reading against it's intended conservative 'point'.

Or to put it another way - he speaks like an urbanite on a bulletin board and you don't really want that sort of attitude going into vital meetings with senior politicians and technocrats with the fate of millions in the balance.

so just be a shitout and leave the fate of those millions to unelected bankers, right. This is indicative of the whole attitude, the naughty voters who must be punished. The problem with this is greece didn't elect a government that promised to ease their hardship on the basis of being gobby twats on the internet. Push people hard enough and even the meekest mouse will react. There is a line, after all.

Oh you mean he's too 'common'? Nothing but RP from a private education welcome in government/board meetings etc.

You sir, are part of a really big snobby problem.

What if they did just say fuck it, and started printing euros themselves? I mean start doing it and carry on for as long as possible in secret (though I guess they'd be busted within days) and see how many they can get away with. I mean if they managed to print 50 billion before the rest of the eurozone gets into a massive rage about it then it could help...
