First Official Portrait of Kate Middleton

She is concerned about child poverty. Wonder how many children could be lifted out of poverty if we didn’t have to pay for the royals.

I went to uni with the woman in the baby bank picture with young George :)

I think it is awesome you recognized your classmate. Always nice to see what people do after the schooling is over.

Most of the problems facing families is world wide. Hunger, housing, crime, etc.

If, by visiting, she is raising awareness of the problem/organization and showing the average citizen what goes on behind the scenes, then job well done.

Over here, we rely on sports stars to bring attention to groups helping the poor - you have the royal family.

Hopefully, the coverage of the organization will result in some donations or more volunteers.

Why did she take the children? I used to do a lot of volunteer work and I always took my children. As a youth leader, I took youth groups to community organizations. I think it teaches compassion and empathy. I think it is important to let children learn about safety nets.

That and children are cute. My meals-on-wheels recipients loved seeing the little ones.

Call me old fashioned but I don’t really think the royals / sports stars should have to draw attention to groups helping people in poverty. Or people volunteering in their spare time. Obviously the government can’t be expected lto help people.

Still it was good to see my classmate, who incidentally is a local councillor, a primary school teacher as well as volunteering at that baby bank. Somehow I think she will do more for the people in her community than the royals ever will for the country in a lifetime.

The royal family are the figureheads of a system that creates and maintains poverty. It's a grotesque spectacle.

Leaving aside the associated issues, at least sports stars have achieved their profile through skill and hard work, rather than just who their family happens to be.
Quite right. It's all such a fucking blatant PR exercise and part of the job description of any 'working royal', it'd actually be out of order if she didn't do this kind of charity work regularly.

Having said that, I wonder if all this charity work the spouses of Royal Family members is also something they might come to embrace enthusiastically to bring some distraction and positiviness to their lives and minds. I suspect that when you marry into a Royal Family as a commoner, in particular this one, you always remain a commoner, and I wonder what genuine degree of warmth she ever gets from her in-law family. Diana being a poignant previous example. Not to mention the relentless (alleged, of course) reports of adultery by her hubby that are an open secret among polite society in this country, and openly published and broadcast in mainstream media outlets outside of the UK.

One hopes that Kate Middleton did not find it necessary to consult the Pantone colour chart before deciding whether or not to meet the children of Holyport, near Maidenhead in Berkshire.

... hopefully, where the appearance of those currently providing her with medical care sits on the the Pantone colour chart is not causing her too much concern.

The surgery was to cover up the squamous reptilian skin that has infested her entire body after prolonged contact with her in-laws. This is why they shouldn’t marry commoners.

"A growing number of people online think Kate is injured, or hiding from domestic abuse, or has run away to live in a cave, or any other number of damaging innuendo, what shall we do?"
"Say nothing for three months, then rush out a photoshop disaster, swiftly followed by an instruction to delete that photo?"
"Perfect! That'll show the media savvy, PR-minded, relaxed in front of the camera, in control of their own narrative no matter WHAT SHIT WE ATTEMPT, couple in California!*
