Posted over on the counter-demos thread, but this seems very worthwhile, people meeting up in the morning of the next TR demo to join a security guards picket before moving on to the counterdemo:
LET’S DEFEND OUR COMMUNITIES AND KICK THE RACISTS OUT!
After the racist violence we saw across the UK & Ireland in the summer, ‘Tommy Robinson’ is once again bringing thousands of his supporters to London on October 26th.
We are mobilising to oppose them.
‘Tommy Robinson’ (real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon) uses his huge social media platform to call for mass deportations of immigrants, post racist and anti-muslim content, conspiracy theories and fake news, and is a vocal supporter of the violent zionist regime of Israel and its genocide against the people of Gaza.
In the summer he spread lies about the identity of the attacker in Southport, that sparked the worst racist riots in a century. Racist mobs enacted violent pogroms in communities up and down the UK and Ireland. Hotels housing refugees were burnt, and mobs smashed up and attacked migrant-owned businesses and homes. Many of the participants were chanting the same slogans used by the English Defence League and commonly heard at Tommy Robinson’s last London rally just a few days earlier.
WORKING CLASS COMMUNITY DEFENCE STOPPED THE RACIST RIOTS
When the racist mobs took to the streets and started terrorising our communities, community defence networks formed to mobilise against them.
Tens of thousands took to the streets from Harrow, Walthamstow, Finchley, Hackney, Croydon, Crawley, Bristol, Brighton, Rochdale, Liverpool, Manchester, Belfast, Hull, Birmingham, Sunderland and many more towns and cities. It wasn’t the police, politicians or media that protected our communities, it was us, collectively.
ANTI-FASCISTS & MIGRANT WORKERS UNITE
The far-right accuse migrants of stealing jobs and driving down conditions for British-born workers. The reality is the rich keep getting richer while workers, regardless of where they were born, continue to be exploited. We're joining the United Voices of the World (UVW) mass picket to build the solidarity we need to defeat racism and the systems that create it by setting workers against each other while stealing the wealth we create.
