Far-right response to Southport Outrage And Ongoing Violent Disorder

I'll hazard a guess she won't get 38 months. She'll probably have several character witnesses to say she was/is of otherwise good character. Her lawyer will claim undue hardship to the family, because who will look after the kids (erm, maybe the father?), and won't someone think of the poor children. If she's still on remand pending sentencing now, I reckon she'll get out and and be sentenced to tagging, curfew, community service.

Women are often treated more harshly than men by the criminal (in)justice system, but in this case it's possible her husband being a Tory councillor might still have some influence, despite the sentencing hearing being moved to Birmingham.

I am not sure about that, the magistrates court has sent she to the crown court, because they felt they didn't have the power to sentence her for long enough, which IIRC is a year in the magistrates court.

They also transferred the case to B'ham, so to avoid any basis as a result of her husband being an elected official in Northampton.

Dogsauce posted she would likely only get a slap on the wrist, and others agreed, yet that hasn't happened, the case is considered to be serious.

Tbf it’s not clear from the article that his behaviour was demonstrably racially aggravated
Yep, I'm sure he was participating in a rascist riot in a non-racially aggravated fashion.

I mean I get it maybe you can say nothing he did on the day was directly rascist. But just taking part was rascist. It isn't going to be white people who feel unsafe due to this cunts actions. Just being there is racially aggravating.

Yes, but it’s not surprising he wasn’t done for it as I don’t think just being there constitutes as racially aggravated offending whatever you or I may think.

Doesn’t work like that. He got done for lobbing rocks at the police during a disturbance. If he’d chucked them at black people, it could be argued that it was racially aggravated.

Still a nice little sentence though 👍

On the sentences in general, what are people's thoughts and how they compare to left protests?

To me the ones I have seen still look rather short comparatively, but it could be we are still just seeing simple cases with a guilty plea.

I've not see anything about charges directly related to the arson at the hotels which in theory could lead to the longest sentences, but it would not surprise me if we don't see any significant charges relating to those.

What the fuck.
I assume that that was because he was not heard to say racist things. So, kids, if you want to do a bit of racism, keep your mouth shut.

“He accepts that his behaviour is completely unacceptable. It is something he is incredibly ashamed of.” Yes, indeed, his shame is not credible, incredible being the antonym of credible.
