Slight chance of rain around 11am tomorrow but doesn't look like any during the race.

OK guys I'm out of here see you tomorrow for what looks like a good race, will be interesting to see how the tyres hold up, looking at it now it seems like it could be a 1 or 2 stop race depending on how well the tyres hold out.

100 pole positions is almost mind-blowing when you think about it.

In my racing career I never once got on pole (front-row, yes but I'd qualified second) which leads me to conclude that I probably wasn't as good as Lewis Hamilton is.

Side note: I was on pole in a repecharge once where I learned that there is a degree of skill in leading the pack round the formation lap - a skill I clearly lacked. I deliberately went slowly but it turned out that 90% of race pace (which seemed slow to me) wasn't quite slow enough. As I approached the grid there were still drivers leaving the pits...

little bit harsh if i must admit

was a traffic heavy part of Q1

It seems to me the stewards penalties are influenced by who the driver is, despite their denials that this is the case. Mazepin only needs to fart in the wrong direction to get points this year.

On the other end of the scale, LeClerc seems to be one with a golden halo who can do no wrong.

In Mazepin's case they're probably right to look for reasons to give him points. He's so far out of his depth as to be dangerous and Haas aren't going to drop him - get him off the grid before someone gets killed ffs.

If he gets enough points to get it revoked, how long does that keep him out? Just wondering what impact, if any, it'd have on Daddy Mazepin's plans. My understanding is he's been trying to own a team for a while (lost out to Stroll when Force India came up for grabs?), but wondering if his kid getting the boot might sour him on the idea.

Let's show Marzipan some lurve.

Every sport needs a bogeyman - the character the audience wants to boo and hiss. It counter-balances the diabetes-inducing sweetness of regular fandom and everyday heroes.

We are, after all, Beelzebub's children, and Beelzebub has a purpose for us all. In Marzipan's case, that's to introduce a much-needed element of risk, random disaster and bad luck for the other nineteen drivers.

I say, Rah! for Marzipan, and may every point on his super-licence be a glorifying testament to the success of Lord Beelzebub's Plan.

:p

Morning race fans, interesting strategy available today. Max the only top driver with a new set of softs and both Mercedes have a new and scrubbed set of mediums. Looking more like a 2 stop than a one stop as 2 is faster.

can we just have Maldonado back

:hmm:

Young Yuki has a lot of spunk, that's good to see in a young Japanese driver there almost always silent and just stay under the radar. but I bet he went to bed last night having been given a massive bollocking by Franz Tost. Judging by drive to survive Tost wouldn't have held back.

Remember when we thought like this about Grosjean? Although he wasn’t a great success he did settle down eventually.

Marzipan’s father is very rich, that’s enough reason not to like him.

What odds are there on Lewis leading into turn 1? Such a long drag down the straight and he’s not been starting as well as Max recently.

I hope it doesn’t happen, but I can see Max getting the lead off the start line. Also quite noticeable in the pre race interviews was Bottas saying how important it is for him to get a win today, to get himself into the title race before it becomes the Lewis v Max show. I hope he doesn’t let this pressure tempt him into a first corner lunge :hmm:

I reckon Max will take the lead at the first corner.
It will be an interesting start, Bottas will get a double tow and is on the side of the track with a rubber down, I almost never bet against Lewis so I'm sticking with Lewis out front around the "first corner".
