England v Platinum Stars

Lord Camomile

Yipchaa!
England's final warm up match, against South African side Platinum Stars, kicks off at 3pm today and is available to watch on the BBC website with text updates.

I'll be at my desk all afternoon but my PC doesn't have the latest version of Flash and I'm not sure I can talk the IT boys into installing it so I can watch the football  :(

Capello won't be playing an experimental side for this one:
Capello said:
"I have to play all the players that will play against the USA for 45 or 60 minutes.

"Sure these are friendly games, but you have to prepare for the game against the USA. Of course we have to be careful about injuries but we have to prepare for the game against the USA."

A lot of people not happy about this match. Given the injuries to Drogba and Robben in pointless friendlies it's hard to see any footballing benefit for this.

Heard an interview with the Platinum coach where he said the vital for his team was to not injure any England players, so expect it to be like a training game

Ferdinand's injury happened in training, gonna stop that too?

I kind of understand the point, but I do think there's merit to playing actual matches, against an opposition you don't know and who want to beat you. I just imagine matches in training can only do so much for you.

This doesn't seem to be listed on Iraqgoals.net and the BBC has a very bad habit of blocking foreign IP addresses anyone know of other sites it may be on live?

According to their ticker display we've got Hart in goal

Hmmm, I wonder if Hart is going to start against the US? I think he played more minutes then either Green or James in the two recent friendlies

Oh good, Johnson, our first choice right-back, conceded the penalty "with no apparent danger around him after letting a high ball bounce rather than clear with a header"

Is interesting about Hart, especially as James has the No.1 jersey :hmm:

Capello, you mysterious Italian :D

How come all sportspeople have started to be made of fine porcelain?

It's as if playing professional sport will inevitably cripple you twice a year. Has it always been like this?
