England at the World Cup 2018

And more kudos to you for making your point now, whilst the others hover in the background sitting in armchairs 30 years old, whilst smoking 20 Kensitas covered in cat hair wondering whether to wash today or leave it till tomorrow.

On behalf of the ABE community I'll just point out that we don't like to see England go out until national hubris has reached an acceptably amusing level. Scraping a win against Tunisia and battering some MLS journeymen is an ideal start really.
Stay strong - ABE still have four games to stop our almost inevitable march to it being brought home

:D So a win against Belgium in a match that doesn't matter, drawing Japan in the last 16 and striding into the match full of confidence only to be knocked out on penalties following a frustrating 0-0 (the tournament's first) in which Kane misses a last-minute pen.

why are they stupid ?
Just out of interest
I like the fact that my patriotism doesn't involve wrapping myself in a flag. That's what makes England different to some insecure little countries.

My memory of those flags is, as soon as they appear everywhere, England lose. I'm pretty sure they were distributed by the lower end of the gutter press.

does it matter? people do it as a "get behind the team" bit of fun - its not really a "look at my nationalism" thing - not like flying a st georges flag all year round on a flag pole - (a bloke in my street does this).

What round do those stupid car flags appear everywhere?
Disappointed this year.

Last couple of WCs have been great round Brixton, flags everywhere, convoys of cars, horns when goals are scored, street banter. Last time there was a particularly good showing by Portugal, Ghana, Spain, Nigeria, Columbia as well as Ingerland. This year, well a couple of bars with flags and from a train I saw one Brazil flag on a balcony, but really nothing at all.

Why not?

Looking at the wall chart this morning it really should be said, what a good result that was for England last night. It remains to be seen if its done any damage to the atmosphere in the camp, but fucking hell its really opened up for England.

Of the 4 South American sides left, only the weakest one is on our side of the draw. Its really only Spain I would expect to lose to and they've been no great shakes so far.

We'll fuck it all up of course, almost certainly in the next round. Then end up watching fucking Sweden in the final or something.
