Had some audi dickhead tailgating me all the way to work yesterday. So close I couldn't even see his number plate in my mirror, never mind tyres and tarmac. I slowed right down but this fuckwit just wasn't getting it.
I will never understand what the point of tailgating is supposed to be. It's just pure main character syndrome I guess, an eye-bulging refusal to accept the fact that other people use the roads.

Whatever the ins and outs of this case, I'm glad they've closed the, 'I don't know who was driving the car at that time' loophole.

It's never been automatic. If you can convince the court that a ban would cause "exceptional hardship", they have the discretion to allow you to keep your licence. There are law firms that specialise in getting dickheads off bans.

I had a lucky escape yesterday.
I was driving on an A road in the forest and approaching a junction driving at perhaps 50mph in good daylight. All of a sudden I saw a female deer and two offspring run out from the left, right in front of me. I went to brake but I was so close to them it couldn't help. One of the baby deers turned back and the other two continued across the road just fast enough for me to miss them.
I did get a foot on the brakes but even so I went past the point where they were before I had significantly slowed.
I know people who only go 40 in the forest just for this reason to give themselves a better chance of avoiding the wildlife. I think I might join them.

bloody deer .... they are wholesale dangerous ... all spindly legs where your bumpers / crumple zones are, and then the bulky torso is right at the level of the windscreen .

With drivers supposed to face bans once they accumulate 12 points, it means some have been given special dispensation to keep their licence despite totting up enough to lose it 2.5 times over.

I would imagine once you get the exception, they know that license isn't getting taken away so they don't care. Then something like a parking fine becomes just a fee, so if you can afford it who cares. Could rack up huge amounts parking wherever the hell you want all the time and just paying the fine off

Parking fines don't get you points, points are for doing shit that is dangerous; speeding, running red lights, pissing about on facebook etc.

Fair enough my experience was getting 3 points for going over a 40 by a college at 3am 20 years ago. Replace parking with speeding and it works the same.
