I have no knowledge of this "butchers" person, so have nothing whatsoever to say on the matter regarding them but I am familiar with breadandcircuse... and she does not deserve the over-the-top pile on to which she has been subjected over the past few days.I'll be completely honest I'm not a fan of breadandcircuse I don't really like most of the videos they post or their political takes. But the level of vitriol here is bizzare, as frankly is the butchers love fest.
I'll stick with my criticisms of Meidas Touch and the politics it represents, but yes breadandcircuse as a poster doesn't deserve any of this shit. I might have a nostalgia for the 'old' politics discussions on urban, problematic though they were in some respects, but when it comes to people who are not fash/homophobes/misogynists and the rest..... well, actually, I've no idea where the 'line' is and it varies from topic to topic, but let's avoid being shitty.I have no knowledge of this "butchers" person, so have nothing whatsoever to say on the matter regarding them but I am familiar with breadandcircuse... and she does not deserve the over-the-top pile on to which she has been subjected over the past few days.
The only whining I’ve seen is from the video crew, i suppose they must be from the AV forum given its the medium they prefer, but I suppose I could always put the worst offenders on ignore if it gets that bad
perhaps do that then rather than whining on. I could have watched every video posted on this thread in the interminable time spent by tossers arguing over the use of videos. The only whining I’ve seen is from the video crew, i suppose they must be from the AV forum given its the medium they prefer, but I suppose I could always put the worst offenders on ignore if it gets that bad
And she doesn't get any for the posts she writes, nor should she. Just a load of posters saying they don't like certain types of video content. And a load more saying they're happy to scroll past. And none at all saying thanks for the great videos.yes @breadandcircuse as a poster doesn't deserve any of this shit.

I don't tend to watch these videos either - for reasons I have already stated - but as with anything else which holds no interest for me personally, I don't march all over threads, demanding that people stop posting particular sorts of things. It's no great hardship to scroll past anything that is of no interest. In fact I do so with about 98% of what is posted on here. This whining is real kindergarten stuff and it runs counter to most of the reasonably thoughtful stuff that I see posted on many threads on here. It's rather unedifying to say the least and bullying at worst.
Which only goes to show that you know absolutely bugger all about anyone. The only whining I’ve seen is from the video crew, i suppose they must be from the AV forum given its the medium they prefer, but I suppose I could always put the worst offenders on ignore if it gets that bad
Behaved like what? It's not just the videos, although if everyone behaved like that the site would quickly become unusable. It's that they are spammy and not reliable sources of information. That kind of content has always been given a hard time here. It would be no different if someone was posting up loads of Daily Mail links, or as mentioned earlier The Canary or RT.
I kind of agree it's got a bit much and I don't really want to add to the pile on. But plenty of people have been given a hard time for posting shitty clickbaity content in the past. One of the things a lot of people value about this site, especially the politics forums, is that there has traditionally been a certain amount of rigour in what content people post and that sources of information can be trusted or meet a certain standard of legitimacy and accuracy - and most of the videos posted just don't.
Posts loads of click baity youtube videos. Just scroll past only works if one person is doing it. It half a dozen started it would be horrible (which is why it feels a bit anti-social).Behaved like what?
Who else are you suggesting that is also posting videos you don't like? As far as I can see it's only breadandcircuse who has been singled out so far.Posts loads of click baity youtube videos. You just said "scroll past only works if only one person is doing it" and now you've said that "no-one else is doing it".Well that's the point. No-one else is doing it. And I think the reaction, as over the top as it's been in some cases, is more anxiety about this changing the culture of the site. If loads of Midas Touch videos are being posted up that we just have to scroll past and not criticise then why not loads of RT videos, or the latest Daily Mail scare stories, or David Icke, or whatever. There will be new noobs, plus posters who have been restrained so far, thinking great this is cool, I can post all my shitty sensationalist evidence free crap on here now. Just scroll past if you don't like it. That fucks the site for me, and I imagine a lot of others, which is why this is touching a nerve.

So just scroll past then.
As I said, feedback is a gift.Did you actually read a word I said?
Anyway I'm done with this, I'm just trying to explain why people might be anxious about behaviour which has traditionally not really been seen as acceptable here (even if technically within the rules) changing the culture of the site for the worse.
It's hardly a cause for anxiety. For what it's worth, Breads is not trying to change anything, so perhaps you and others who are harbouring such unfounded concerns could just chill out and give her a break.Did you actually read a word I said?

Jesus Christ and I thought I could take forums and things too seriously sometimes.Well that's the point. No-one else is doing it. The Urban version of 'do unto others...'Let’s just all agree that everybody can post what they want and everybody else can think they’re a prick for posting it. Job done.

It's whether or not you can tell them they're a prick for posting it that's pertinent here.Let’s just all agree that everybody can post what they want and everybody else can think they’re a prick for posting it. Job done.
Could be, could be. Me, I like a little feedback on whether what I post is of use or interesting or just plain irritating. But apparently, that’s not the modern way. Positive validation only, keep everything else private. The Urban version of 'do unto others...'
Apparently, it’s best to think it in secret.maomao :

If lots of posters gave their personal opinion on a range of posts, graded them, got all personal, every day.Could be, could be. Agreed, let's take this to the hidden forums.Apparently, it’s best to think it in secret.
Actually I'd say it is, and has been for some time, happening. Gradually.^ I really don't think that's going to happen.
