Well that's the point. No-one else is doing it. And I think the reaction, as over the top as it's been in some cases, is more anxiety about this changing the culture of the site. If loads of Midas Touch videos are being posted up that we just have to scroll past and not criticise then why not loads of RT videos, or the latest Daily Mail scare stories, or David Icke, or whatever. There will be new noobs, plus posters who have been restrained so far, thinking great this is cool, I can post all my shitty sensationalist evidence free crap on here now. Just scroll past if you don't like it. That fucks the site for me, and I imagine a lot of others, which is why this is touching a nerve.

Could be, could be. Me, I like a little feedback on whether what I post is of use or interesting or just plain irritating. But apparently, that’s not the modern way. Positive validation only, keep everything else private.

I agree but come on, no one is suggesting that constructive criticism is a bad or unnecessary thing. It's lazy and tiresome to suggest that that's at the root of what's happening on here, that those who've had a problem with the pile-on on one particular poster are coming from some snowflakey place where positive validation rules and takes precedence over objectivity.

The problem is that there really isn’t much to be said about Trump that hasn’t already been said over the last 10 years. There’s nothing new to learn about him and there is no new analysis to be had about his politics. The only interesting thing left to discuss is the failure of his political opponents. Which includes those Meidas Touch buffoons

Fwiw, I'd disagree with this, yeah I think we know enough about Trump to have formed an opinion about whether he's good or not by this point, but there's plenty about Trump and the coalition around him that's still uncertain and fruitful ground for analysis - what is his mass deportation policy going to look like and what are the prospects for sabotaging it, how exactly will his isolationist tendencies end up playing out when he has to rule through a state and military-industrial complex that's decidedly hostile to being dismantled, and so on.
Although I suppose we won't really get to know any of that until after January 20th, so we might as well get back to posting clickbait videos about butchers or whatever we were doing. How about a lengthy pun digression, maybe the thread would benefit from one of those?
