Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

Not sure responding to posts when and where they've been posted can really be equated with trawling through anyone's past posting history and spamming current threads with examples of shit posting from years ago on other threads.

If these historical posts are really so bad that they've been eating at you for years, maybe you couldn't address them adequately at the time.

I don't see why current threads should be derailed because your inability to satisfactorily win an argument with someone in the present leads to you bringing up further examples of you failing to do it in the past on a whole range of other threads.

In case you haven't noticed, the thread was derailed by several others for pages and pages.

However. You kept very quiet, oddly enough. Not a peep about policing or derailing.

So, Russ decided to blunder in and make another homophobic remark. Which you seemingly have no problem with. Maybe I'm missing something concerning your silence.

Again. It's a simple question, do you agree or disagree with his bigotry?

They were just kidding.

Possibly ;)
As one of the noobs who hasn't yet been insulted here, that's potentially very disappointing. It's been a novel experience for me, and - frankly - I'm beginning to get bored of not being on the receiving end of at least mid-range opprobrium.

*Edit to acknowledge @emanymton's posting above, to whom I express (somewhat frustrated) gratitude. Even though no sweary invective was included in the message.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is commuting the sentences of roughly 1,500 people who were released from prison and placed on home confinement during the coronavirus pandemic and is pardoning 39 Americans convicted of nonviolent crimes. It’s the largest single-day act of clemency in modern history.

The commutations announced Thursday are for people who have served out home confinement sentences for at least one year after they were released. Prisons were uniquely bad for spreading the virus and some inmates were released in part to stop the spread. At one point, 1 in 5 prisoners had COVID-19, according to a tally kept by The Associated Press.

Biden said he would be taking more steps in the weeks ahead and would continue to review clemency petitions.

Give it time ;)

Tbf, only one of the new influx caused disruption but they didn't last long.

Some of us are weary/wary/grumpy about new posters. The reason is that too many times they turn out to be returning banned posters who caused much grief.

Obviously, the AV crowd aren't that. Which is a nice change and maybe we can't believe our luck. There's little doubt we need new blood. I think some of the fear is also that the ethos of activism and discussion might be lessened with the increase of YouTube content, which can be over relied on.

Possibly. Other opinions are available and welcome.

I think the sooner we lose the "AVF" tag the better. Most of us got together on a different site altogether and it always irked me that some of those who moved along with us seemed incapable of shaking off their identification as members of that board. Most (but not all) of us who have taken up membership here have little or no attachment to matters Audio Visual - we all tended to mainly frequent the politics section at both AV and the previous site until overly heavy handed moderation made the temptation to move impossible to resist.
As long-term contributors to fora we are all, I think, familiar with the problems arising from previously banned members returning to chuck spanners into the works. God knows we have all seen enough of them ourselves in our former "incarnations". The recognition that we as a (hopefully temporary) cadre do not fall into that unwelcome category is appreciated from whoever it comes. We joined in good faith, and hopefully any ongoing suspicions will soon dissipate.

This, for sure.

I can understand it being used when so many arrived at once from the same other place, but for anyone to keep referring to you all in that way now is tedious and frankly insulting, now that you've each had the opportunity to demonstrate your own individual idiosyncrasies and annoying habits.
