I met Jeremy Thorpe once. In a pub in Norfolk in the early 80s. He was trying to get food after two and the kitchen was closed. I was at the bar getting served. We exchanged pleasantries. He ordered Dubonnet and bitter lemon. He had strikingly piercing eyes.
