In some ways it might be better in the long run if the repubs win both houses as then they have to "own" everything that happens in the next 2 years before the mid terms.
They don't half take a long time to count compared to the uk. Before anyone says population is bigger, it's only about 4 or 5 times bigger than the uk.

Yes it seems an age since the election, with results still coming in.
It's interesting though that we kept getting media coverage that the orange crook had won in a "landslide", giving him a massive mandate. He would get all 3 parts of the government too. Now that "landslide" has shown he barely won, it was pretty much 49% each, and now some unexpected flips in the House, may upset the result there.
I can't for the life of me see how he won, but also, with the shitshow from the GQP in the House over the last two years, it should have seen them trounced. All they did was whinge, whine, and try to indict Hunter Biden and impeach Joe. It was a ridiculous tenure, starting with the debacle for McCarthy when trying to get elected as Speaker. I think it took attempts into the double figures before he finally got it, only to lose later with this maga nut taking over. Don't forget the terrible fact that they elected George Santos, the bigliest liar to emerge on the scene since the orange monster, and you have to wonder how they have any representatives. Trashy Boebert and Empty Greene getting re-elected, along with Dim Gym Jordan just beggars belief. These maga voters really are insane.

You seem to have forgotten that weekend when PollyTonybee, George Mombiot, and Nancy Banks-Smith joined this site and caused 48 hours of mayhem.
In an uncertain age, where the hard right has almost complete domination of the media and internet, we cannot afford to give even the slightest advantage to them. Centre right, soft conservative - it doesn't matter - give them an inch and they'll take a mile.
As for police, I'd be more concerned about actual undercover cops and malign influences here, rather than the mentioning of providing a bit more than content free links. Several other posters have previously pointed this annoying posting position out to bcuster.

You'd think so, but he keeps doing it. No saying that he's right wing, but less urban fall like so many other places online, it's essential in being vigilant. The Lincoln Project is another one - they have very clever campaigns and media presence, but they are still Republican at the end of the day.

That doesn't say anything about a recount, just that Trump's margin of victory in the popular vote is getting smaller as California slowly counts its votes - his margin of victory in swing states was a lot bigger than Biden's was in 2020, I think a recount outside a few of the very close House races is about as likely as Trump spontaneously combusting

Lincoln would be spinning in his grave at what his party has come to. As an aside, PBS is showing a series on him now. Very interesting. I might dig out my Daniel Day Lewis dvd to watch soon. Can you imagine any of the current GQP being anywhere near his integrity? Why do decent president's get bumped off and that orange shitgibbon is still breathing? I have seen a few headlines in the last few days questioning the assassination attempt on him, but I haven't checked them out yet. I don't want to look like a tin foil hat wearer, but I wouldn't put anything past the evil bastard.
