Had been waiting to see if Boden ran any special offers so I could get some things for our trip to Cape Town in a few weeks, and it's happened, so got these cropped trousers (red and blue 'bud' print)

And these sandals, though it probably won't be warm enough for them when we go, but they look perfect for summer given I knackered my last pair of smartish flat sandals last summer:

oh dear god that will have ended up one of the most expensive webpages i've ever read, i reckon.

for now i've restricted myself to just one frock from Lindy Bop. £29.99 for a classic-length diner dress, and available right up to size 22? Awe - some.

I bought the black one for now, but can see my getting all three. Have coveted a diner dress (or bowling dress) for years and years but never seen one that wasn't super short.

They're from their teenage girl range, but importantly they have flat, squared off soles so I can affix an extra layer to them to make up some of the difference of length between my legs!

This black secondhand pencil skirt, from the petite range at Next - just for once it's more or less the right length on me (just grazing the bottom of the knee) without needing to take it up. BTW I'm a sucker for details when it comes to tailoring (the yoke detailing continues around the back), so sue me.

I've managed to buy a completely useless floor length 1930s silk A-line cheongsam style dress. Just to top off the "I will never actually wear this" it is sleeveless. But it fits so I had to get it.

They're 46 and overweight, like the rest of me. Now I've got it home and seen it with clean hair since I've been swimming I really like it. Fuck knows what I would wear it to though, and anything I can't ride a bike in is of limited use to me. It's an interesting construction. It fastens with a single button in the armpit. I might need to lengthen the loop a tiny bit. Floor length is an exaggeration really, it's ankle length. Really needs glamourous shoes also.
