Yesterday I went shopping and bought these:

And two smartish tops, a summer dress from matalan and a pair of standard skinny jeans which I will probably only wear on smart occasions/with boots.

That's the problem, I can't... thanks to inheriting my mother's and grandmother's varicose veins, my ankles are no longer nice to look at (if they ever were). I'm thinking maybe I need some kind of summery boots or something, except that nowhere sells boots now.
Well, I don't know if you'd be interested or not, but Shelley's Shoes are still selling some lovely ankle boots online... and some interesting shoes that cover the ankles also... The ones called "Tremble" - I think they look nice imo & I bet some of these would work with your skirt Ruby...

Oh yeah, and I have wide feet, and big calves so sadly none of those any good... quite fancy a pair of gaucho boots from Duo, if they weren't over £100. And I don't wear heels, just to make things really awkward.

What about those rocketdog plimsole type boots ruby? (Just think they might be a bit cooler than uggy ones) Or biting the bullet and explosing eek your ankles. You can't seriously want to wear closed in shoes all summer can you?
I reckon you could wear footless tights with that skirt, and if like me and uber trendy you can pull them down over the backs of your heels, thus covering any ankle-age.

well today my resolve caved - I hit primark on the way home. nothing very exciting though, just a few basics for my holiday.

Good thinking, I've ordered some footless tights as they're half price now. I haven't had footless tights since the 80s
. I hope they don't creep too far up my legs.The dress I bought earlier will be fine with trousers underneath I think... I still have this vague idea of cowboyish type boots though, they're reasonably summery. Evans had some nice ones in a few months ago and I didn't get them because the heel was too high really, but I've been regretting it. The other advantage of getting some boots now would be something else to wear on the motorbike besides para boots (which I'm also fine wearing with skirts).
