CWI Split?

So what's happening with this now? Is there now a socialist party (england & wales) in the IDOAWCTCWI (?) and a socialist alternative (uk) in the CWI? Any of the older more known heads cross over to the split? Have there been any rival street stalls across walthamstow high street?

Yes, no not many, and not as far as I know in Walthamstow.

What about elsewhere? What I'd really like a handle on is how bitter it is and what sort of political direction the socialist alternative side will take - will it just be SP without taaffe, bring out a paper, same old, or will it take a different direction, or everybody just ends up in labour. All that stuff really.

Effectively the SP have walked out of the CWI. From my perspective, I think you're more likely to see the SP putting out different politics, because they seem to have altered their politics the most.

As far as SA goes there are discussions about how we orientate to Labour etc, there is a paper but we might switch to a magazine format, we're trying to rebuild the CWI in a England and Wales. We don't want to replicate past mistakes but it's not going to be a radically different group.

Unfortunately it is quite bitter, sadly. Both sides are very focused on each other at the minute. Hopefully we move on from that quickly.

I see Paul Murphy TD has launched his breakaway group RISE. RISE apparently they will remain part of the Solidarity - PBP dáil grouping and won't register as a party.

It's seems we may yet see another 3 factions emerge from the Irish SP.

Isn’t there/wasn’t there already a group called RISE in Scotland?

I can appreciate that trying to name your lefty grouplet is a bit like choosing a band name, most of the best have already been taken, but even so..

Two maximum but probably just the one.

So here it n Scotland was an organisation called Solidarity and then a few years later an organisation called RISE.
Now in Ireland there is an organisation called Solidarity and now also one called RISE (different I word)....
So, Ireland is just following Scotland but with a better accent....

Jim Larkin reference. Éirígí got there first but ah sure it'll do. Believe it or not it's still a step up from PBP and the worst acronym of all time, AAA.

I quite liked AAA and wasn't particularly sold on Solidarity.

It always reminded me of this. Argentine Anticommunist Alliance - Wikipedia

The use of the rotten term 'austerity' and its all in it together connotations was always shortsighted. Don't like Solidarity either. With so many grouplets running around such a little field, it's just asking for trouble.
Who can forget the dizzy heights of those anti austerity parties and groups that sprung up like a new elixir?
