In laws do, I don't (it's their table too). Mostly okay in spite of that, and their frequently execrable choice of telly.Never had you down as a Daily Mail reader Greebo <snip>
TBF their heads (those of my in laws) may be in the wrong place but their hearts aren't. Small mercies. You have my sympathies. My mother quotes the Daily Express as gospel.
I need to see this!I've nearly finished re-making a jacket out of a dress that RubyToogood kindly gave me.
It is in a lovely fabric, deep blue/purple colour and feels like suede, but Ruby is alot taller than me so as a dress it wasn't the right shape for me. It's beautifully sewn and fits me perfectly aound the bodice. I've cut it off at the hips and used the skirt to make sleeves, with just enough left over for 2 small inside pockets. I'm just heming the lining now, then putting in a double ended zip at the front.
Thanks Ruby!
You do really neat hand heming! I managed to reuse some of it for the sleeves' hems.I need to see this!
I've been making myself a plain black shirtdress out of cotton sateen, using the shirtdress pattern I've used a million times before.
I loved that dress, it was the warmest thing ever and cut right down on my heating bills. You do really neat hand heming! I managed to reuse some of it for the sleeves' hems.
I'll wear it on our next outing, provided its finished.
why on did you give it away? it's lovely - shame I couldn't just wear it as a dress.I loved that dress, it was the warmest thing ever and cut right down on my heating bills.
