Crafty Thread - what are you working on at the moment?

I'm having a mega reorganisation and trying to decide what kind of boxes or bags I need to keep my fabric stash in 🤔
My preference has been for some kind of shelving from Ikea, I have some Ivar, a Kallax and some kitchen cabinets without doors. Or if you want tidy, then a shallow Ikea Pax wardrobe with lots of shelves.

I keep the majority of my sewing supplies like fabric in a two drawer chest made by my dad years ago. Keeps it organised but out of general view and free of dust.

Depending where you intend keeping it, and what room you have available (and how much you have) a chest of drawers or wardrobe like Boudicca suggests might be good options.

Mine is all in a big pine chest of drawers but it’s not ideal and feels all squished in. I think I’d like open shelving but boxes/baskets with lids because of dust.

The kitchen cabinets went under my cutting table in my old house, so not so much dust or sunlight and the right height (c85cm) for a work table. But they are currently stacked up in my new house, look a bit messy and I am worried about sunlight, so I was thinking of adding a curtain.

Also I seem to have given up dressmaking in favour of upholstery, so really need to get rid of a lot of it.

Well, I've got a built in wardrobe with shelves, but I have a moth issue and want it in containers on the shelves. Also this should help me organise it into different types of fabric. Clothing storage bags would be space efficient but squash it a bit. Plastic boxes would be good but not sure how space efficient.

Stunning, equationgirl. It's funny, I was thinking about peacocks a couple of days ago for some reason and remembered about your quilt so I was wondering how you were getting on with it! That's really something special, you can see a lot of love and work have gone into it.
Thank you, that's lovely of you to say.

I fucking love that there bird, the proportions are delightful, I love the darker colouring round the head and beak and the crazy paving glaze around the neck. The whole thing's exquisite and now I guess you're going to tell me it's a giraffe :D

Meant to be a Heron cos I love herons :D

Unfortunately the other side of the poor guy has a bare patch on him, two pots touched each other at like 800-900 degrees and the glazes all stuck them together so a big clump of glaze came off when we took them out

I'd like to ask the sewers here for some pointers on making something new out of old dresses.

I've got a few linen shift dresses that are a bit too small or a bit worn in places or I've just become bored of. I have this notion that I'd like to try to make a simple jacket or something out of them.

Does anyone have wisdom they'd like to share on how to approach this? What the pitfalls might be? Just general things to take into consideration before starting.

I'd be very grateful for your thoughts.
