oh it also has a secret compartment that i'm hoping to reassemble and it's missing a section of a front clasp and i think i know someone who should be able to make me one or talk me through making one myself

i have a new project reviving a victorian writing slope. it's classy, intricate and original on the inside, but the outside is a wreck i'm thinking of doing something pretty drastic in relation to any notional value it has, but will hopefully make it fully functional for as long as i'm likely to need it

So took a bit of a break due to stuff but have now cut and shaped the seat pad,still got to sew the seat cover but not sure about covering the footrest, anyway pic of progress so far.

My daughter's cat has just died. Grand-daughter had kissed her goodnight and gone up to bed with her dad...who came back downstairs just as Josie was breathing her last. Gdd devastated as this is her first death (she was still very young when my ancient collie died). Anyway, I have a book called 'Best in Show - knit your own cat'...which is exactly what I am going to do. Have found tabbyish colours of greys, blacks, dark browns and beige. I will pack the little puss (it will be about 6 inches long, 3.5 inches tall )inside the fox beret I am just finishing. Pics to come along soon-ish (I hope).
Josie the cat will be buried next to the old collie, Lila, and D-I-L's childhood cat, Muffin (who died at the age of 21).
Suggestions for appropriate memorial planting welcome. Obviously, we planted a dog rose for Lila (rosa canina) and CATanache and nepeta cataria (catnip) for Muffin.

Hollowed out. Got some bamboo canes, picked up some pine cones on my dog walk along with moss. Need to forage something to blank one side off.

close-up of the tape repair. it's blending in pretty well colour-wise, and the embossed texture comes through a little. not sure if a polish will improve things or not, but happy so far
