Coronavirus: Key Worker Travel Thread

I'm mostly working from home now, but will be going in to the office for two half days a week for the stuff that can't be done from home. My work ID card should be sufficient to stop me being gunned down by the authorities and I'll be the only person in the department, so should be at minimal risk of spreading or catching the plague.

Had a whole double-decker bus to myself on the way home yesterday, which was both bizarre and reassuring. Only a handful of people on the tube.

Yeah 🧴

Thank fuck the Chinese and Arab ivory tower builders in London have been told to do one and genuine key workers can have one less worry in their day.

That’s incredible Hollis

Apart from the people dying in hospital, obviously, anyone else thinking the outside world is about a hundred times nicer in the Age of Covid? The roads are clear, no fumes, no stressful crowds, sparser numbers of people walking and running in the spring sunshine, more interaction and shared moments at 6 foot distance. It reminds me of Sunday shifts, in the best way. Finding it quite relaxing, but that might also be the contrast of stepping out of the hospital into what feels like Eden with this weather.

Got a whole double decker to myself too. Had to catch it tonight cos I overdid my walk in and buggered my knee  Got notice of furloughing in the company today. I'm hoping I will be as I can manage on what will be available. They're only topping up the government amount by a nominal sum and I really don't see the place lasting long beyond all this. Given the nature of the business they should be being super proactive at the moment but it feels like they're almost creaking or plodding along.

Could this be the first time in a long time that those of us in Big Speeding Metal Boxes are no longer villains of the piece? Strange strange times.

can't speak for whats happening in london but a lot of bus operators are going on to emergency timetables from this weekend

things like traveline / real time systems may take a while to catch up, suggest checking bus operator's website for more

It’s brilliant.
It’s literally the first time I have liked London in ages
