Colour for our house?

Cloo

Banana for scale
As I've mentioned on house doings, we're going to be repainting our house. Neither gsv nor I like the red colour, leaning towards grey, blue-ish grey, with white around window details.

The only paint colours of houses in roads surrounding seem to be a similar red, greys of various tones, white or cream. Any recommendation for a) colours and b) exterior paint brands.

House looks like this:

Go for grey so that future lookers-on can assess when you last painted

Otherwise, go for a neutral light beige (warm shade to go with the brick).

Unless it's your forever home in which case just go for it.

Yeah, I have said to gsv that grey will be totally early 2000s - I think that red is probably very 70s-80s. But some version is probably the best colour; I'd be up from a blue-ish grey and it would go with the front door.

I immediately thought blue-grey to go with the front door (mind you it's easier to repaint a front door than the front of a house) - but it's a good colour for painted exteriors anyway IMO, however much I love just good brickwork!
I'd go blue-grey personally.

I don't have any experience of doing exteriors tbh but whoever you get in to do it should be able to advise about type of paint and brands.

If it was me I'd go for Barbie pink or apple green or something, but if you're not that sort of person light blue-grey would be nice.

Someone wanted to piss off Worthing council, so painted their seafront house pink, it didn't turn out to well for her.

My mum's old place is painted apple green, I am going to re-paint it back to white.

Go for something discreet and classic because it'll last longer than something "modern." Look at how the other houses are painted and do something similar.

Diagonal stripes. :)

that would just be silly

:p

Very dark red would look nice, be easy to paint over the colour you have now, work well with the other colours and fade well.

Otherwise a sort of navy would look good. Both colours would look nice with the door.

I don't like grey on houses, personally - we have enough of that in the sky.

There's a house near me painted a sort of light orange - very clearly orange, not peach or yellow, but not bright - with a grey door and grey window and door surrounds, and it looks amazing, but I suspect it'd need repainting too often, and it's a smaller house.
