Burger Thread. Yes!

My student days are behind me I'm afraid, and for...reasons, I don't eat out :(. I'll just have to be happy that fellow burger fanatical Urbs are discovering hidden gems for me :)

I went for dinner with my dad Saturday, had a lamb burger with yoghurt and mint dressing. Looked the business. Tasted it and realised.....no matter how much I want to, I don't like lamb :(

This, together with the cod mini dippers (which were some sort of cod/milk/cheese blend in scampi coats) which were also horrible, meant I was very disappointed afterwards :(

I had steak Friday, Burger Saturday.......then Sunday.... I had a fry up, a sloppy joes pizza and then two fucking curries with naan and chips and bajji's for dinner with loads of lager

Tonight, and for the rest of the week, I'm having the gym for dinner as penance (after I finish the curry for lunch today)

So i went for a burger at Ireland's new venture Bunsen, last Friday and fuck me...it was TREMENDOUS!!!! Although the menu is sparse and they only serve either a normal burger or cheese (based loosely on a very very very high class big mac), the experience is like nothing else. I mean out of this world. The meat was tender, juicy, DIVINE and the ingredients worked perfectly bite by bite and you could taste each ingredient, scientifically worked out. Every goddam person in that joint was having a food orgasm, no mistake. The fries were alright (nowhere near how good they look, my pal had the sweet potato fries - they were better) - but the burger was excellent, 10/10 :thumbs: http://bunsendublin.wordpress.com/

My delightful child told me that he is going to buy me one of those lovely burger van burgers for mothers day
I'm delighted with this because a- I get to eat burgers, b- he thought of this idea by himself for the first time this year and it's one I"m not going to have to pretend to enjoy (I usually take him to a shop and hint at what i'd like or tell the shopkeper before i go in what i want so she can 'help him decide'), c- he has been paying attention to what I like.

Chums, improved low carb type roll (Italian dried herbs & mustard powder in the mix) and home made patty.
All the usual good shit. This was fantastic and I didn't miss the bread roll at all. The addition of some baked sweet potato chips and this could be a game changer. Feast your eyes on this bad boy:

Looks very good! The meat spices/seasonings look interesting, what was in there? It looks like a skyskraper of a burger! Half expecting Hong Kong and a few bi-planes to be zipping around near the top :D:cool:

I got this recipe from a book years ago but there are similar ones on the web.
This is the best recipe I have ever had for a basic burger:

1 kg Beef mince
1 beaten egg
1 slice of bread blitzed in a blender, easier if it's frozen
1 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 Onion finely chopped
1/2 Capsicum (I used mixed red and green) finely chopped
1/2 tsp Chilli flakes
1/2 tsp Dijon mustard
Pinch nutmeg
Salt

Mix it all together and make burgers. Put in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
The parmesan and capsicum keep it moist, sometimes I put lumps of cheese inside instead of on top.

I popped along to Beer Rebellion for one of their tasty burgers on Saturday. It was lovely - came with Swiss cheese and Bacon and really good bbq type sauce. Chips were acceptable - but serving them in a half pint glass is a naff idea IMHO. Anyway Burger was very juicy and I'm very happy to have this place on my door step.

That looks bloody awesome. Especially the meltiness of the cheese

my mum was talking about some venison and duck burger on the phone to me yesterday :(

Wow. Is she a posho? I saw venison burgers in ASDA the other day, in fact they're always there....in the tramps buffet...wonder why?

But venison AND duck?! Even duck on it's own in a burger is insania, maybe it would work? Might be very rich though....

Good to know there's burger chat going on between you and the mo' though. Sign of a strong mother daughter relationship that

she never had it! she was talking about a restaurant that had it on the menu, i think maybe in Devon. no no, she didn't have it, but she read somewhere that Peter Andre had had it. she thought it sounded rank. the rest of the family had roast pork apparently. it was a pretty weird convo, i have to admit, but what can you do. she was using this to explain why her and my dad always eat in weatherspoons. know where you are with weatherspoons see, no venison and duck burgers on their menu

Damn right. I'm quite partial to the Wetherspoons Gourmet chicken burger. Onions rings, bacon and a badass chipotle sauce on it. None of this duck nonsense. Ham and eggs, hot dogs, some sort of hearty pie for the oldies. Half eight AM opening for the alkies. And me. Good old Wetherspoons :)

I once met the bloke who owns Booze Busters in there. Said he knows Tim Wetherspoon, goes halves on a pallet of Fosters with him every month. Said he'd leave some money in his will to my stepdaughter if she sees him again and remembers his name.

Good old Wetherspoons :)

this sort of thing only ever happens in wetherspoons

Tim Wetherspoon has a serious mullet :D

That said, i <3 Wetherspoons (their burgers aint bad either!).

Great burger porn today . Its making me food-horny.

I went to MEATLiquor in Brighton on Friday and had their Dead Hippy burger. It was mentioned earlier in this thread and it's as good as was claimed. I didn't get a pic unfortunately as it would have been impossible: the place is fairly dark, but lit up by fluro paint/lights. Not particularly conducive to a good pic. Also, I was absolutely starving so just wolfed it down.

Here's a pic I found on the interwebs:

Mine was sloppier looking than this, but this pic gives a good view of the ingredients. In fact, here's another interwebs pic, this one looks more like the messy meat stack I had, though:

I also got some buffalo wings which were absolutely amazing. £7.50 for the burger. Can't remember the other prices. Can easily recommend
