British woman has her holiday to Benidorm ruined "because her hotel had 'too many Spanish people"

Did I?
I was speaking about the mainstream population who have internalised the values of their state :/ Is that a generalisation... or a description :/

Freda Jackson was probably talking about the mainstream Spaniards who've internalised the values of their state too. WTF.

That does not make any sense at all.

It would be correct to say- She is the one who has internalised the attitude of her state.

Sorry. I'm probably a bit excited. In Cuba so many of the tourists were spanish speaking. being in the minority was cool. genuinely,

TBF mate, thats a little too complex. I saw a lot of people who had respect for their revolution. The education they had received and the fact that they weren't screwed over by capitalism. Socialism or Death.

Sorry. That was addressed to Danny...(on the `subject` of Imperialism) i should have made that clear. My etiquette is terrible.

It is a class issue. If I said I hate the ruling class would you think me bigoted .... if you did you would be right .. but how bigoted am I?

Edit:

Yes you did, and you've just done it again.
Your gone to have to break this down for me ..

The mainstream population who have adopted the attitude of their state is not generalising, is it? IMO it is a description of a body of people .

It is a class issue
Then why are you saying:

The mainstream population of an aggressive colonial force like UK, America, Russia, China .... do seem to internalise the arrogant attitude of their state.

The same reason people all over the world hate Americans and Brits .

Edit... sorry

Imperialism.

You're not talking about class structures there, you're talking about "mainstream populations" who are "internalising arrogant attitudes" and have "internalised the values of their state" and whom it is obvious to hate because of the actions of their governments.

You've literally generalised. Literally.

a very specific body of people. Like the dominant class for example.
You haven't been talking about a specific class. You started with Ruskies. You didn't say the Russian ruling class. You didn't say "certain specific Russians". You then went on to say the mainstream populations! The only specifics you've been using are specific nationalities. And you then generalised about the characteristics of their mainstream populations.

The mainstream population of an aggressive colonial force like UK, America, Russia, China .... do seem to internalise the arrogant attitude of their state.

Obviously labelling them all as such is actually harmfully racist .

And, bizarrely, you said that to do what you'd just done was racist!

I`m simply explaining my reasoning. Would you say that is an incorrect description of what a mainstream population is ?

"Cunty tabloid journalist takes advantage of upset elderly lady"

Probably more likely. A friend of mine used to work for the Mirror and explained to me how they often get these quotes. They'll say something like "so, did you feel that the holiday was ruined because none of the entertainment was to your taste due to all the other guests being Spanish?" And she goes "um... yes?" Which gets written down like it was in the article.

And with that I'll bid you goodnight Ralph Llama. This conversation has been like trying to nail jelly to a wall. I feel like I don't really know what happened. Or if it even reached a conclusion.

One of my friends is Russian, she is beautiful and very obsessed with branded clothes. But she is one of the most polite people I know and has a very kind heart

I remember when we were in Fuerteventura and there was this drunken Geordie making a scene on the beach shouting offensive racial epithets at locals. But everyone there, British/Irish etc were pretty much mortified by him. Another time this northerner blacked up in the apt complex in Menorca, the reception was bemusement. In Lisbon, a bunch of English "fans" got ejected from an Irish pub after they kicked off and in another bar the owner asked me where I was from and when I told him I wasn't English, he clapped me on the back telling me how much he hated them. It was uncomfortable, and I had to explain that he shouldn't think of the arseholes as representative of their country.

I apologise, I hate americans and I loved Cuba cos there weren’t any. A

You don't really hate Americans. Just the arrogant, right wing, in your face types. There's far too many where I live and they really are bigoted, unpleasant people.

But. There's many, many decent Americans about. I recommend letting them into your heart and not letting the bastards who think they fucking own the earth get you down.

That's typical behaviour of the English and Irish....but it's not something you'll see in Europe including Scandinavia. If I bump into someone I apologise...as do most Irish people. It's just a matter of culture.
In Sweden and Finland if someone bumps into you they don't say anything....and they're surprised if you apologise. That's pretty much standard all over Europe. It's cultural.
The British are culturally exceedingly polite. *

*waits for someone to contradict post in a rude way.
:D
This is one I've consciously weaned myself off. It's not just apologising when you bump into someone. It's apologising when someone bumps into you!

Someone mentioned russians.
I taught English to Russians for a few years. The ones I met were very "money" conscious and very "brand" aware. These were not extremely wealthy russians. They just had a bit more than other Russians. Enough for them to travel to Ireland to learn english for 3 months...There were loads of russians over here during the whole Gorbachov era and afterwards for about 10 years or so. Sorry to say but they were very snobby in their own way. Nice...polite...but their attitude was very entitled and they looked down on anyone who had less than them. They could not understand why I would want to do charity work. At the time I was a volunteer helper with St Vincent De Paul. They thought I was crazy.
I've met lots of russians over the years...and some of the nicest of them still have attitudes of superiority towards those who have nothing.
