British woman has her holiday to Benidorm ruined "because her hotel had 'too many Spanish people"

Serving in Cyprus got to see a lot of british tourists.
One lot
Of lads got completely steaming grabbed by Cypriot police who'd make trump look like a workaholic!
Figured they were English dumped them on the RMP who weren't going to fish in their pockets for ID took the reasonable approach dump them on the infantry 9 X10 that would be correct.
This time they were wrong.
Usual approach when some drunk idiot got dumped on us come the morning shout at them cup of tea get the duty driver to drop them at their hotel.
These poor sods had a duty Sgt guard commander who were up for a laugh.
Got the full metal jacket experience four hours complete with haircut🤣.
Very easy to convince some body who's still drunk they have been drafted😈.
They did get brunch and got to keep the desert combats. We had she'd loads in 91 as we would be fighting anywhere sandy ever again 🙄

Yep, absolutely. The drinking culture doesn't translate to places like Spain and France, though parts of Spain are well used to it, cater for it, and even encourage it. Russians, Fins, Irish, etc ... all the same.

We've been to Turkey on holiday twice. Both times to the same hotel.

Despite unlimited free booze, we didn't see a single soul who was drunk. Brits made up about a quarter of the guests.

My mum's friend offered her the use of her time-share near Alicante. It was weird. It was part of a huge British gated village that was literally like a chunk of England dropped into Spain. When you turned on the TV it was all British channels, the shops looked like those in Britain and there was a pub that was exactly the same as one in England. Nobody spoke Spanish.

So the first thing I did was get the fuck out and find an actual Spanish bar and talk to Spanish people.

You surprise me.

As a Welshman in turkey I got friendly with the locals. They had very little respect for the English (or Germans). Saw them as drunken louts. Most would be in bed howling drunk by 11pm.
We’d wait for them to go then the staff and locals would come sit with us for the rest of the evening (sometimes til 6am).

The local poison Racki is served half Racki, half water and another glass of water.
They explained that they just gave it straight up to the English to speed up the getting rid of them

Yes, the Welsh are famously better behaved than the English when on the piss :hmm:

Compare and contrast

Yawn. Not this again.

On my travels I've encountered badly behaved Brits, Germans, Aussies, Israelis, Italians, Uruguayans and probably others. I'm sure this can be distilled into all-encompassing wisdom about certain national character traits.

Or maybe not.

Possibly the two and a half grand for two people cost of the holiday had something to do with it. Not hugely affordable for the Ibiza youngsters.

I like Raki, had it as an aperitif occasionally, over ice, no water.

Not Welsh though. They're all angels. They just sing.
Leave me out of this. :D

Trying to think if I've ever been out of order abroad. When I lived in the US yes. Otherwise don't think so. I've done my stupid pissed stuff here. Seems simpler to do it at home. Never wise to fuck with coppers in other countries.

Oh here we go. Good old English bashing from the Welsh contingent. If this was the other way round they'd be screaming "racists!"

It might be amusing/illustrative to see the reaction to the article if the phrase working class was substituted for English - doubtless the use of a different social construct to determine the behaviour of a huge swathe of people would be condemned, as the holder of such an opinion would be described as being thicker than a house brick, with utterly dogshit politics.

Personally I think that applies here - that the two posters in question have deeply dodgy nationalistic prejudices, and seem to think that as long as a generalisation or prejudice is pointed at 'the English' its not remotely comparable to one voiced about 'the Romanians', the Pakistanis' or 'the Polish'.

Dogshit politics - and ignored and tolerated for far too long.

Spot on.

No Favelado !! No dessiato !! NO at other posters who actually live in affected areas and have had first experiences, you're all WRONG!
You must listen and fall in line or get belittled and berated and constantly told you're wrong until you give up
That's the way certain poster(s) want it to work here, and godnamit they'll get their way

I offered no personal opinion on the English. Merely reported the opinion of some Turkish hospitality workers.

It’s my opinion that many people lose it on holidays after a whole year on the grind for our corporate lords and masters. They squeeze a whole year of living into 2 whole weeks of freedom. Externally it’s not a good look.

Many welsh can end up doing similar but the English work culture in my opinion leads to more instances.
