BrewDog: yet another hip company using 'rebel' language to sell its stuff

I think it's fair to say that the deafening silence is a de facto admission that they've been wrong about this.

The thread can be closed now.
Oh, come on...the thread has previously dealt with these industry mag puff pieces about 'awards' from membership promotional schemes.
Surely even you're not that naive.

Anyway, this thread is actually about "Turning rebellion into money", not just Hitler's limousine.

The headbangers on this thread do seem to be out of step with the general consensus.

Anyone who genuinely cared about workplace conditions would be heaping praise on companies that make an effort to change their ways.

Well they only had seven employment tribunal cases between 2018 and 2020 (for things like disability discrimination and pregnancy related dismissal) so I suppose it's an improvement that they're apparently seeking to resolve issues through settlement rather than a legal process.

But I personally think that's a financial decision not a genuine desire to improve employee rights and conditions.

Any idea what the results of the tribunals were?

Can you link to them?

I can only find three. The one that we've already discussed here about the blind guy who one of the tribunal members disagreed with, one case that failed, and one that was withdrawn.

I did that. See above. I can only find one judgement against them. Everything else seems to have been dismissed or withdrawn.
Look at the employment tribunal decisions database on gov.uk - withdrawn often means a settlement agreement has been reached but those are subject to an NDA and may not be in the public domain.

Yes, but not always. It can also mean they've been withdrawn for other reasons, such as on legal advice. And I can only see 2 withdrawn, 2 dismissed, and one successful. So only one judgemement in 5 against BD, and that was by a majority and not unanimous. What were the other 2 you mentioned?

Not much on this Saturday, then? :D

I did the search, it gave me 7 results.

is not all rosey for Brewdog the business.
they've shut for good the cider brewery & taproom in Bermondsey that they bought a few years back in 2018.

That sounds like they're licensing out the cider recipe to a third party. I wonder if the site will become another brewdog location or if they will offload it?

So in the court case in Scotland she declines to show up or defend herself, and is convicted of fraud.

Now he withdraws the case against her in the English court. He says it's because she's bankrupt, it's already been proven & there's no point pursuing it. She says it's because he doesn't have any evidence.

Seems like the latter. Brewdog leaving the unit entirely as unable to come to terms with the landlord over rent.

ArchCo told the Spy it was “disappointed” it’d been unable to reach an agreement with Brewdog — but declined to detail what kind of rent increase it was proposing, saying the information was commercially sensitive. Likewise, a spokesperson for Brewdog said it wasn’t able to disclose the rent increase either.

maybe it'll become another Pret a Manger

Apparently, as of December 1st, BD are the top 10 of Scotlands favourite employers.

You have to admire that, given the smear campaign by disgruntled employees that lasted at least a couple of years.

Proper genius.
