BrewDog: yet another hip company using 'rebel' language to sell its stuff

There is no way I would sit in anywhere all day just for free WiFi.

You've obviously never been a student, or skint.

You're making a silly argument by the way but that's par for the course on this thread, so don't worry too much.

Question hash tag; do you think all clothes shops should sell what you like to wear?

The Sussex had gone downhill since Covid. It us d to be a decent food pub but they’re trying to make up lost ground by reducing the ingredient quality. The rotisserie chicken there last month was bone dry and burgers were leathery.

Also, their new pub sign is of Harry and Megan.
The Sussex is closed at the moment - refurbishment (again)
Re-opens this Wednesday under new owners -The Stonegate Group.
They will be removing the Harry/Megan sign apparently!

They should keep it just for the WTFness!

:D That one was aimed absolutely full-square at you Broggers, and you didn't disappoint!

Glad you not disappointed with my post.
Thing is, if you spout bollux, or pretend to spout bollux, you can't really be surprised if it get's called what it is.
Perhaps, for the sake of gullible people like me, you could use a

ah, you’re too clever for me; I always fall for it and respond…though not always with a funny picture

I could go to any number of pubs in Preston and have decent beer, on cask or keg, and with free WiFi, without ever considering that I'm missing out because I'm not inside a middle aged nervous breakdown made real called "Brewdog".

I used to be a fan, I don't deny that. But up here there's Track, Rivington, Chain House; local breweries who focus on beer, not 'aspiration ' , not oversized play pens for advertising executives, not whether the hell is their quirky advertising this week.

All this said, I guarantee without doubt that Spymaster doesn't like Brewdog and never has. This thread is their plaything.

As NoXion says there are millions of other places to get free wifi. Libraries have free wifi and are nice warm quiet places if you need to work or study.
Yes, I am often skint.
The clothes shop analogy is not a particularly relevant argument.
If you must go to a pub for free wifi, at least go to one where you can get a decent pint; I suspect spoons is cheaper than brewdog with much better beer.

You can go to micropubs and get much better pints then BD. I notice that the variety is a hell of a lot better at a 'tap' than BD.

I know that bar. Guaranteed to be infinitely better than Brewdog's vile hipster fest of over priced shite.

I quite like the Hole In The Wall too.
Yep. I pass through Waterloo quite often, and The Waterloo Tap and the Hole in the Wall are my two favourite pubs, very different as they are. Depends on my mood, whether I’ve walked over from Embankment and whether I’m with anyone.
Didn’t even know there was a Brewdog in the vicinity.

The best Waterloo pub is The Kings Arms for drinking. The best for food is The Anchor and Hope, on The Cut.

The Kings Arms is a really good ale pub. It's just a bit further than the others if I've got a train to catch, which is normally the case if I'm in the Waterloo area. Don't know the Anchor and Hope. Must explore further when I have time one day. Cheers.

The A & H is one of those that's easy to look at the outside and decide not to bother. That's a mistake.

Unsurprising that no-one wants to talk about what will happen to any Brewdog employees made redundant as a result of the south London closures. I've not seen anyone popping up with examples of other employers who are likely to give them a better or even equal deal.

It's obvious that few contributors on this thread actually care about the workers. More interested in arguing that free wifi is an awful thing. How punk.

The reality is that it's 2023 - young people don't want to waste their time in pubs getting liver disease and ranting drunkenly at people they don't know; they don't have that luxury. They have things to do and places to be.

This must be the most boomer thread on urban.
