Boomtown 2012

I'm strongly considering this. I'll have to fit it around my dissertation work, but fuck it :)

Mrs is not keen due to annual leave worries :( I'm going to have to try and rope a mate in or go solo :hmm:

Looking like the urban75 festy of this year.

You *do* know that by Sunday, I'll be pretending not to know *any* of you. :D

lineup keeps getting better and better. missed it last year as i was on holiday so extra hyped for this year. what are drinks prices like and can you take whatever booze you want in?

just checked the site and it says you can take a reasonable amount of cans / cider but no spirits. still might chance a half litre in a pop bottle, worth a shot

This was an offputting factor (at an otherwise excellent festie) when we went along in 2009 -- the limits were quite restrictive and the gates from the carparks were policed quite strictly.

Not going this time -- other commitments -- but out of curosity I'd be interested to see how people get along with these rules this year ....

From what I could tell the gate security were on a par with the Gestapo last year too, it's the only bit I'm worried about as I'm not working it this year.

I didn't go through the gate but as lon as your Persian rugs don't smell I think youd be ok

sure the mayor'll do ya a discount/freebie ed! what with the number of urbs going like...

I'm not going if I have to pay, it's going to have even more people in the same size space as last year. They turned the bass down right quiet at night which would have been fine if you could have gotten anywhere near the systems rather than being stuck outside the tents. I really can't justify the expense for that sort of experience but if I manage to blag it somehow I will go. Perhaps next year.

Hey stuff - the site is almost twice the size of last year with only a small increase in capacity giving plenty of space for all, it's also worth noting that 2011 was the first year at Matterly estate and very much a trial period for gauging space!! huge apologies for this.
re. sound, the site was partly chosen because of its amazing sound levels - the main reggae stage was turned down at midnight on the Friday last year due to teething problems of running 30 venues at once

hope this helps

Yeah, the stages I was at were LOUD right up till they closed. Not sure what festival you were at, stuff_it!

Frustratingly waiting for my new bank card to arrive so I can order a ticket, if it sells out in the next few days I'll be gutted.

They only split up a couple of months ago after their farewell tour, brilliant news all the same thought. I saw them on that tour and they were much better than the past couple of times too, really good show.

Ah i thought it was right after sound for the pound? did they do any albums after than?

I've only got ska wars i think.

they released a couple of EPs after pound for the sound then split up for a bit, and i think released a 3rd album which didn't do too well. fucking brilliant when i saw them at the cockpit in leeds a few months ago though, very excited

Just booking my ticket :) coming from London, is it worth paying for the included coach or is it cheaper to do it yourself ? Any offers of a lift would be gratefully accepted :D

Get the coach, it's very convenient. Also, party bus :D
