I got some of this, tried it this morning. Went on fine, was careful to use a tiny amount. Got to putting on my foundation though and it went all claggy. Managed to get foundation on and smoothed out the worst bits, but it's really cacky. It's just about keeping the shine off though, I'll say that.
I'll give it another go tomorrow but it even went a bit funny when I was blending it in over my moisturiser. Bits of white stuff rolled off.

BareMinerals??? What brand of foundation and would you recommend it? I'm wondering about stumping up for some.Update - used it again today, but used the new mineral powder foundation that I got yesterday, and bingo! All went well.

I got the Loreal one from Superdrug, £14, but you really only need a teeny tiny bit, and I think it will last a fair while.
God yeh, would totally recommend it!! Goes on like a dream, looks bloody great! Doesn't even look like you've got foundation on!

im looking for an odd thing - eyeshadow that actually stays on!!!
I have oily/ combination skin and like to wear grey/ brown eyeshadow - cannot find ANYTHING that hasnt vanished after about an hour...
Have also tried the method of putting it on over powder and that doesnt work either...is there a 'wonder shadow' out there that stays on all day?? thanks

Lorac seems to stay on me. I have quite oily skin and deep set eyes so lots of shadows slide/smudge off, but Lorac is based on stage makeup so works better. Expensive though. E2A I did buy a laura mercier eye base that makes whatever you put on top of it stay, but it was expensive, and, bizarrely, a sort of blue/white that showed through most of the colours you'd put on top

I tried that after Maybelline discontinued my previous brilliant foundation and found it just sat on top of my skin and was awful.

I have a very pale friend who wears benefit foundation (which she swears by) in the wrong colour and it sort of sits here as this orange Kabuki mask. It's dreadful...

I dont think it works on all skin. It is perfect on my oily/ combination skin, while really expensive more watery ones won't stay on

Been using St Ive's one for about three weeks now (after reading this thread) - I honestly can't see any difference. At least it wasn't expensive. I'm still a big fan of Oil of Olay radiance, I don't like wearing make up, and I only very occasionally do when I go out, but if I put that in the morning my skin does look, well, more radiant.
On the other hand, the size of my pores has been bugging me, so since Saturday I've been washing my face with as cold as I can bear water and Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Cleanser, and I can totally notice the difference. I conclude the reason my pores were looking big was due to me not washing my face as often as I should.

I've only ever used that powder foundation which it works a treat with. Plus I tend not to put moisturiser on the bits that I put it on cos of the shiny thing (I realise that's probably wrong and I should moisturise everywhere, but I don't
). It'll be a right pain if it won't work for you, what with you having bought it on my recommendation

Very pleased it worked!Not on the first application, no, not at all.
I'm still finding though that even using the matte base, my skin is still that greasy at the age of 45 that I need to powder in the afternoon

That's fair enough. I doubt there is a product that can give a no shine finish for a whole day!! I tend to use the powder pages to blot my face in the afternoon.
Aye, pain in the bum but tbh - using the base too does actually mean I'm not having to powder about 5 times a day

This is them (excuse the grubbiness but they have been in my bag for a while).
It's a book with pages of pressed powder on. you use them to blot you face and the powder soaks up the oil. I love them as I find them easier to use then adding more powder. They also seem to take the oil away rather than you just covering it up iyswim.
