BBC presenter Huw Edwards suspended over paying for sexual pics.

I don't really know what to say except that given the current prison situation the sentence is probably about right, as weird as that sounds. I highly doubt he'll reoffend and he's lost his entire life basically.

A long sentence to such a high profile nonce might deter other would be nonces surely?

Plus, if someone can get 56 months for looting a Greggs it seems to me that this sentence is pathetic.

How has he lost his entire life? Has he been stripped of all his wealth? Or will he have his money to fall back on because it's hard for celebrity nonces to get a job?
He hasn't lost anything. He's thrown a few things away but you almost sound sorry for the paedo cunt.

Lost his reputation and the probably the chance to go on working. Things couldn't be worse.

Jesus wept, the complacent me-me-me bollocks from both of them. He is especially repellent but her lack of interest in the actual victims, and concomitant lack of revulsion with him, is just bizarre.
This is the lime that bugs me the most.

As if the role of the police was to help her, after all she is the real victim.

I rang a helpline I knew about through my work but probably wouldn’t have thought to call had the police not given me a leaflet. That was the most helpful thing they did that day

Yes but implied within that is the idea that his fall from grace is punishment enough, which should not be either a factor or a consideration. Nor should prison overcrowding.

If he were Joe Nobody with no grace from which to fall, guilty of the same charges, would the sentence have been the same?

He’s 63. A lot of people with his kind of income will retire so he’ll move to somewhere where no one recognises him or have plastic surgery and change his name.

Probably go to south east Asia where lives are cheap and bodies are typically smaller than westerners.

Amazing what £ can buy...

The court heard that a “restricted, puritanical but often hypocritical background of growing up in a particular cultural milieu of south Wales with a father who was highly regarded and lauded outside the family, but was perceived as behaving monstrously within the family, created both an enduring cognitive dissonance and low self-esteem”.

The court heard that this had been “compounded by a sense of being inferior by not getting into Oxford and going to Cardiff instead, and being therefore something of an outsider at the BBC”.

"Lost his reputation" kinda suggests he's an innocent victim of something. He didn't lose his reputation, he threw it away when he got caught noncing.
And although he lost his job at the BBC, all he has to do is invest a few of his quids in 20 or 30 rental properties and he's set for life. Not that he isn't already, but if he really needs an income.
He's lost far less than any normal nonce would lose. The paedo fuck should have got 5 years, not suspended.

Harsh; the fella had to endure the University College Cardiff, University of Wales. Have you no heart?
I didn’t even go to a red brick uni. I went to a breeze block university: Stirling. Everyone who went is on bestiality porn WhatsApp groups, I can tell you. It’s the only way to cope with the shame. The scenery was nice, but you just wake up every day with urges, y’know.

I am old enough to remember when students at the University of Stirling were rather rude to Her Majesty Queen Elozabeth II.

I'm reminded of how Butchersapron was always so spot on wrt matters Oxbridge; miss his input.

He hasn't been caught noncing though, has he?

He's been caught with noncey photos, which definitely should be a crime, but it's not the same as noncing. There has to be a difference in law.

What he's been done for, is the implication that he gains sexual gratification from imagery of child abuse. That's as old as the hills.

Such imagery in Japan, for example, was only declared illegal a few years ago, and even then, they gave their weirdos a whole year's warning to get rid of their child abuse imagery before they'd be reported and nowadays, apparently, they just get a slap on the wrist and a fine.

What about dodgy anime?

Is someone who wanks over cartoons of kids, worse than one who wanks over photos of them?

The obvious argument is that nobody has actually been abused in cartoons, but the thought is still there, isn't it?

Is someone who views second-hand photo's of child abuse worse than someone who views cartoons, or has a wank over the swimwear section of the Freemans catalogue, or CBeebies?

Obviously, I'd like to incinerate all of their bollocks summarily, but the leftie in me thinks this might be quite close to a thought crime.
