Bangers chat

Also gorgeous. At brooklands, we spent a while talking to the owner of a P1800 who explained the differences between the models, who knew. He went on to take best in class. Surely they are both classics as opposed to bangers.

Yeah, I did stretch the banger phrase a little. :)

P1800s/1800S and even 1800Es are now silly money, I've seen fully restored cars in Holland up for £60k.

Sold mine in 1996 for £3,000. :(

rear breaks on a Jag are annoying when they don't use the same tool for the caliber wind back as a fucking honda

*shakes fist at Ford

ok

i am looking for another expedition car.have 3x long euro trips in the next 6 months and need something cheap but practical at a walk away price level if it dies. ideally ULEZ. must seat 3 adults + gear, so maybe an estate. autobahn friendly. mpg etc. im back scouring the mondeos atm but any other tips appreciated.
initially wanted something with 4x4 but these look to attract much higher prices

I’ve had a really good experience with a homda accord executive estate
Eats miles, bullet proof mechanics huge inside small outside

Look at the mileage on that

Another with whopping mileage

You can find a few older models with less mileage in the 2-3k range

meh. most of the estates im looking at are DERV. so ULEZ is a blocker on these. You forget that DERV was big in the early 2000's, but are getting increasing difficult to use anywhere bcause emissions. Might have to go for a medium saloon with a big arse on it.

Saab ? I know nothing about these except they share stuff with GM IIRC. thats maybe not so good.

Mondeo again. could do worse.

Accord - I know these are good.

Current Volvo banger, still looking good after 125k miles. Wonderfully quiet, smooth with plenty of punch from the 5 cylinder engine, plus the roof goes down. Only downside is the quite shocking 25mpg average, quite a culture shock after the 53 mpg from the S40 diesel we had up to September.
You'll enjoy the comfort. :)View attachment 268185

Since buying the Amazon last Summer, I haven't driven this, so if you'd like a bit of wind in yer hair motoring for a grand or so, let me know. :)

Saabs are meant to be great. But theyve gone bust and parts arent so plentiful. You could get stranded in central or southern europe. that wouldnt happen with a volvo ford bmw audi Toyota...

That 2011 Accord for 2900ish is still going spare. Petrol but not too inefficient. ULEZ for sure. You could do worse.

I would stay clear of an ageing diesel estate tbh. Yes youll spend more on petrol but theyre a lot easier and cheaper to fix medium term. Also better resale value currently.
