Average Chinese person's view of UK

nightowl

Another day on that hamster wheel we call life
I got talking to a Chinese woman on a language exchange app recently and, although she doesn't come across like she's totally swallowed the party guidebook, there's enough hints in her comments about our supposedly easy working lives, ridiculously long holidays etc to suggest she probably hasn't been given the most balanced information. There's certainly been plenty of "Oh, I didn't realise that" moments. Does this sound fairly par for the course in terms of how someone from China might view the UK?

Don't think most people give us much thought at all. I get a real range from very dated stereotypes through football to simmering resentment based on imperialist wrongdoing long ago. Most common thing is probably contempt for the food.
