Assassination attempt on Trump, 13th July 2024

Was he completely outside the security area? I assume he had to pass some level of security. Open to being wrong

All the reports say he was outside the cordoned-off area that makes up the rally venue itself, on the roof of a near-by building, that looks like an industrial unit of some sort.

I'm amazed that in a country where there are more guns than humans, where you can actually buy guns specially-made for kids, the one single human prepared to use one to finally shoot trump in his lying, sneering mouth .. missed?

I know I'm late with this thought but I'm so utterly flabbergasted I just cannot process it yet.

Anyone else hope for a dead zone photo when they heard this...? :hmm:

I used to have a screen grab of that famous image of Sheen holding the baby to protect himself from the sniper, and would post it on Trump supporters' timelines on social media, saying 'Look, this is your boy' etc, etc as a wind up.

Can't do that anymore. The fucker didn't read my script. Doesn't matter if his bloody ear was the result of an assassin's bullet, a shard of glass or a paper cut from an overenthusiastic autograph hunter, the image now is of a virile, blooded and defiant Trump. It's all about the optics, and right now it looks good for Trump. His campaign people couldn't buy that sort of publicity. They've made a silk purse out of a cunt's ear.

Do you think a successful assassination attempt would make the situation better?
I can understand that fleeting feeling of him getting his just deserts, but how is it something to be applauded beyond that?
It doesn't deal with the underlying causes of Trump, but it does deal with Trump.

However, we always need to be aware of unintended consequences. Trump's death now would leave time for the Republicans to choose a candidate who stands a better chance of beating Biden than Trump. His assassination would solve a problem for many strategic-minded Republicans.

Trump has about an 80% chance of beating Biden and did anyway though right?

Trump is currently 4/9 to win so that’s not so far off the percentage I gave you

Yeh just did a check on the betting sites. Kamala is actually 3/1 on to be the candidate, only marginally behind Biden. But both are way behind Trump to be president.

NY Times reckon theyve got a photo of the bullet, post-ear

One of them goes-round-corners type of bullets then.

bleergh think it the BBC trying to give trump some credit for trying to raises fun ownership laws to 21 year minimum but drop it due to lack of political support

the lack of support was from his fucking party
he mumbled something about it after parkland and quietly dropped the idea two weeks later when it noticed it would be suicide in the election booth

You do have to wonder what these snipers were doing while this guy was moving into position with a huge fucking gun...

And how the absurdly named 'Secret Service' didn't fully scope out any possible shooting spot
