I don't know if that means much, I assume you need to be registered to get a ticket for the rally, which he probably needed to get close enough.

Given the election is supposedly close, those who are swung by this could make the difference. Following on from the furore over his age and gaffes, this is a disaster for Biden. All the more reason for a change of Democrat candidate soon.

Why bother conspiralooning when we all know that there are thousands of Americans who would like to kill either Trump or Biden? Four sitting presidents have already been assassinated, others, including Reagan have been shot and wounded. Robert Kennedy was the last presidential candidate to be murdered on the campaign trail.

I dunno. Whilst I think it's much more likely that it was a real attempt, I wouldn't be that surprised if it turned out at some point to have been completely staged, with no bullets involved.
