...and Yemen!

To expand on this, GroovySunday -

Yemen is not just a nation of houthis, al qaida fighters and tribal savages.
It is also a nation of conscious proletarians, academics, historians, artists, musicians, lefties, scholars, activists, feminists, class warriors, ordinary people, and so on and so on....
It has a rich and colourful history of democracy, marxism, culuture, class struggles, autonomous thinking and questioning western imperialism and the status quo from a class-based angle.

These people have not disappeared and have not been muted by an ongoing war, starvation and distraction.

The rise of the houthis is a direct result of western policy to shape the middle east over the past few decades.

The crushing of the arab spring and therefor destrucing any meaningful progress in yemen was supported by all players, including saleh, iran, usa, houthis, islamists, etc etc.

If we want yemen to meddle in international politics and to take action against an ongoing genocide we must support the people who have been fighting and speaking out against capitalism and imperialism. These people exist in yemen.

To say 'at least the houthis are doing something' misses the point and can bare devastating consequences.

It also dismisses and silences the people who have been fighting for meaningful progress under the most dire circumstances
that's the sort of post i wish i could like more than once

What choice do they have?
Obviously no choice at all. They could only do exactly those actions which they performed, and nothing else. Not one missile less, not one missile more. Only those targets they chose and no others. Even the 'mistakes'. When they change their minds, and bomb further targets, they again will have no choice. Similarly if they don't. Just no choice. Ever.

Can't help but wonder why we needed to bomb them, the Yanks don't really need our help, they could have just launched a few more F-18's off the carrier and banged off some more Tomahawks. I get why the UK Govt felt it needed to support but couldn't we support it the same way the Australians did and just issue a statement saying we support it?
Don't think it's going to stop the Houthi's though, don't know a lot about them but they don't strike me as easily intimidated.

US wants to give the impression of an international action, no one needed our bombs but looks better the more are involved. In their minds anyway.

As I say, you clearly know more about Yemen than me. I doubt we would've ended up here without the genocide in Gaza tho.

What do you do?

The Red Sea is a hugely important shipping route, and action to put it out of use simply cannot be tolerated.

Ships burn horrible shit to propel them, forcing shipping round the long route will increase pollution in a major way.

Are we headed for war with Iran?

And if Hamas hadn't done what it did, we would not have the situation in Gaza we have now.

I've asked this question before, and failed to get an answer. What should Israel's response have been to the Hamas attack?

I think we would have, if probably via a different route.

Some yemeni power using the country's strategic location to get involved in international affairs is nothing new.

See for example the bombing of uss cole in 2000

Putin has released a statement full of "working with our friends in Riyadh" to bring this to an end and the like. Erdoğan has also condemned the bombing.

removing the factors that fuel the conflict, removing their settlers and forces from the west bank and supporting the creation of a viable palestinian polity and thus bringing themselves into compliance with un security council resolution 242 after 57 years

What do you think was the cause of what Hamas did? Ask yourself that.

This is a possible derail ofcourse, but it's also related to this thread.
I appreciate that the Hamas attack was not something which was without a historical cause, we all know this.

I take it then that no one is prepared to answer my question?

To bring this back to this thread, what, sas, do you think the houthis should be doing, considering their mission to eliminate judaism and having the means / strategic location to influence international policy?

I take it then that no one is prepared to answer my question?
I already did - maybe you have me on ignore? The answer is simple: US and their lapdogs stop backing the genocide - in fact they have the power not just to stop backing it but to actually stop it completely. Not only stops attacks in the red sea and the escalation to a wider war but also stops a genocide.
