And next, Syria?

Again with no casualties worth mentioning . The entire jihadist front there has basically collapsed . And the Syrian army appears at long last to be operating under competent leadership . Those were hilltop fortresses the jihadists had been dug into for years with Turkish supply lines to their rear . The SAA took them with ease , in the middle of hail storms and mountainous terrain . Better still they'll be overlooking Jisr and Idlib pretty soon . The head choppers there are well fucked now .

No casualties worth mentioning you say, and you know this, how? It seems to be taken as a given that they couldn't have done it without Russian air support and I think you'll find that has resulted in all kinds of casualties including civilian ones see post #4822 if you have the stomach for it.

Syria: Russia’s shameful failure to acknowledge civilian killings | Amnesty International

I know this because the rebels legged it , which was why these hilltop fortresses have been taken much quicker than anyone expected . There was hardly anyone left there to fight them . They'd mostly fucked off . And there weren't any civilians there . The head choppers kicked them all out years ago .

Links....? Anything...? No comment on civilian casualties due to Russian airstrikes if not in particular then in general?

Head choppers 0, barrel bombers 1.

Free Syrian Army torture of journalist

South Damascus journalist tortured in FSA-affiliated prison: “I’m calling on the opposition to face up to their mistakes”

First they accused me of “espionage and treason,” saying that I was working for the regime. The accusation was based on a video report I published with Al Jazeera several months prior, which discussed the Free Syrian Army’s resistance to repeated attacks by pro-regime Shiite militias.

At that time, Shiite militias were heavily mortaring the south Damascus front. Later the accusation changed to “pledging allegiance to the Islamic State.”

There's some interesting photos of the Russian base at Khmeimim here.

I like this one. Fat crew, unguided WW2 bombs and that legendary Sukhoi build quality and attention to detail on the Fullback that looks like it was made in a shed.

Do those pesky Russkies have some genetic experiment going on to breed tubby pilots/co-pilots, those ones look like twins.

wonder why they're wearing camouflage

Why have they resprayed it blue?

All of the Su-34s delivered from the first two production contracts (2004 and 2008) came with the bright blue/turquoise colour cammo scheme from the factory. I'm not sure what the green paint daubed around the canopy is all about. Maybe something to do with corrosion?

The newer ones, from the 2012 production contract, come in the new 'eggplant' colour.
